Sn-Bi alloys (54∼64 wt.% Bi) with the nonfaceted-faceted system were unidirectionally solidified. The Sn-Bi eutectic alloy has a asymmetrical form and are skewed towards the faceted phase. In the change with composition and growth rate, the preferred crystal growth, direction and electrical resitivity were investigated. Increasing the rate of growth, the regular eutectic microstructure was changed to irregular cell phase type in the hyper and hypo-eutectic, and the unidirectional tendency of longitudinal microstructure was significantly decreased. The difference of electrical resistivity between transverse and longitudinal plane in Sn-Bi alloy was decreased in order of eutectic, hyper-eutectic, hypo-eutectic. This means that the microstructure acts as a more effective factor than the composition.
