      • 芬子 Methanol 엑기스가 白鼠 肝의 藥物代謝酵素 活性에 미치는 影響

        It was previously reported that hepatic drug metabolizing enzyme was induced when irritating spices such as black pepper and capsicum were given chronically to rats. To investigate the effect of mustard, one of the irritating spices, mustard methanol extract was given intraperitoneally once a day for 7 days to rats. Hexobarbital sleeping time was measured 24 hrs after the last administration of mustard methanol extract. Plasma hexobarbital concentration was also measured twice, 5 min and 15 min, respectively, after hexobarbital administration to rats. As the rusults, hexobarbital sleeping time was shortened by 21.5% compared with the control group. Plasma hexobarbital concentration was decreased by 15.2% after 5 min and 22.9% after 15 min, respectively, compared with the control group. An attempt was made to determine if there were any influences on enzyme activities in rats pretreated with mustard methanol extract once a day for 7 days. Microsomal fraction was isolated from rat liver and quantity of cytochrome P_450 and b_5 in the microsomal fraction was determined by Omura's method. Microsomal cytochrome P_450 content was increased by 16.4%, while cytochrome b_5 centent was not changed. These results suggest that treatment with mustard methanol extract for 7 days may induce the drug metabolizing enzyme in rat liver.

        Pharmacological studies have been carried out with the methanol extract of the whole plant of portulaca oleracea Linn (Portulacaceae). The pharmacological tests show that it is non-toxic in the test of acute toxicity, p.o. and that it has inhibitory effects on the catharsis induced by castor oil and protective activity against CCl_4 intoxication, and mild diuretic action in mice, and also it has significant anti-inflammatory activity against the inflammation induced by acetic acid in rats.

      • 들기름이 흰쥐의 肝藏의 重量에 미치는 影響

        Perillaseed oil, which is widely used as a source of cooking oil in Korea, contains a strikingly large amount of poly unsaturated linoleic acid (58.4% of total fatty acids) which is one of the essential fatty acids. A comparative study was carried out using Albinorats divided into eight groups with various diet combinations emphasizing perillaseed oil sources for the period of four weeks. The level of perillaseed oil in each diet was 10%, 15% and 20% of total food weights. The diet of control group contained 15% lard level. And for the perid animals were fed ad libitum. A few important findings are as follows; 1. Growth In all dietary perillaseed oil, among the levels, 10% perillaseed oil level is better than 15% or 20% perilla-seed oil level, 15% and 20% perillaseed oil levels impaired the growth, consequently the growth rates of both 10%, 15% and 20% level groups were worse than those of control group (15% lard added group). 2. Feed consumption(see table 3) In 20% perillaseed oil level, the feed consumption was lowered. Genrally, the feed consumption rate was proportional to the growth rate. In feed efficiency, 10% perillaseed oil level was better. 3. Liver weight(see table 4) In liver weight per 100gm body weight, 20% perillaseed oil level was largest. This maybe due to the liverenlargement by the toxicity of perillaseed oil.

      • 수점산과 Cimetidine의 병용투여가 흰쥐의 위궤양에 미치는 영향

        SOO JEOM SAN, Chinese medicine, has been used for the treatment of gastric ulcer and CIMETIDINE, H_2-receptor blocker, has been also used as the gastric ulcer remedy. Therefore, the effect of concurrent administration of these two drugs was compared with that of either SOO JEOM SAN or CIMETIDINE. In order to investigate antiulcer activities, some experiments were conducted. Ulcers were induced by fasting and chemicals(SHAY, INDOMETHACIN, ASPIRIN, ETHANOL). The results were as follows; 1. The concurrent administration of SOO JEOM SAN and CIMETIDINE insignificantly inhibited SHAY ulceration in rats. 2. The concurrent administration SOO JEOM SAN nd CIMETIDINE was more effective on ulcers than that of only SOO JEOM SAN or only CIMETIDINE on antiulcer actions against indo-methacin-induced ulcers and aspirin-induced ulcers. 3. The concurrent administration inhibited ethanol-induced ulcers, too. 4. In pathological examination, the concurrent administration was more effective on remedy of gatric ulcer and hemorrhage than that of only SOO JEOM SAN or only CIMETIDINE.
