曺瀓,趙珖弼,馬在濚 朝鮮大學校 附設 醫學硏究所 1988 The Medical Journal of Chosun University Vol.13 No.1

The dermatoglypic patterns of the hands and feet formed during early fetal life and remain essentially unchanged thereafter. Consequently, these traits are especially useful for analysis of genetics and environmental factors that influence prenatal life. Dermatoglyphics is useful in personal identification, twin identification, genetics and diagnosis of some diseases. 216 normal medical male students and 171 normal high school girls were examined for the pattern configurations of palmar creases to study the dermatoglyphics of the Koreans. Various types of palmar creases of the poplulation were as follows ; 1. The variations in transverse flexion crease for males represented normal(47.2%), simian(5.1%), sydney(0.5%), cascade(6.0%), connected hypothenar(25.7%) and connected thenar(11.6%), and close line(3.9%). 75.0% of individuals showed bilateral symmetry of two hands. 2. Distal transverse crease variations for males represented normal(37.7%), forked(46.5%), cascade(12.6%) and accessory line(3.2%). 78.2% of individuals showed bilateral symmetry of hands, Distal transverse crease variations for females represented normal(35.1%), forked(48.5%), cascade(14.3%) and accessory lines(2.0%). 75.0% of individuals showed bilateral symmetry of two hands. 3. Proximal crease variations for males represented normal(55.1%), forked(25.5%), branched(10.6%), cascade(5.8%) and accessory(3.0%). 65.3% of individuals showed bilateral symmetry of two hands. And proximal crease variations for females represented normal(54.4%), forked(11.1%), cascade(8.5%) and accessory(2.6%). 63.8% of individuals showed bilateral symmetry of two hands. 4. The thenar variations for males represented normal(48.4%), double(16.7%), forked(22.9%), broken(7.2%), short(1.4%) and cascade(3.5%). 75.0% of individuals showed bilateral symmetry of two hands. The frequency of separate termination of the thenar crease reprented 10.9% in the radial border and 89.1% in the proximal crease. And the thenar variations for females represented normal(47.0%), double(16.4%), forked(24.0%), broken(7.3%) short(1.2%) and cascade(4.1%). 74.3% of individuals showed bilateral symmetry of two hands. The frequency of separate termination of the thenar crease represented 10.8% in the radial border and 89.1% in the proximal crease.
