The variation of total calcium, magnesium and ionic calcium in blood serums of 8 rabbits which has anesthetized with ether and chloroform by inspiration was measured in Yanagisawa method and the effect of vitamin K_3 to them was examined. The results were as follows: 1. Total calcium and ionic calcium in blood serum decreased markedly for an hour, but affer three hours they showed a tendency toward raise to the normal. 2. 30 minutes before anesthesia, injecting vitamin K_3 25mg made the decrease of total calcium and ionic calcium in blood serum comparatively low, and after three hours they are retrieved completely. 3. The variation of total magnesium in blood serum was not more meaningful than that of total calcium and ionic calcium, but was shown a tendency to inverse correlation to them.

The second-order rate constants for the reactions of phenacyl halides with piperidine in anhydrous acetone were determined, and the activation parametrs were also evaluated. It was found that the phenacyl bromide was more reactive about 222 times than the phenacyl chloride toward the piperidine, and that the values of entropies of activation were quite negative and those of enthalpies of activation were comparatively low. It, therefore, may be concluded that the reactions were to be S_N2 mechanism. Arguments are presented against the application of Kirkwood's equation in the reaction of phenacyl bromide with piperidine.
