The modernization of industry structure is rendered to increase the woman's employment. The rate of woman's employment has been rapidly growing in Korea ever since the 1960's industrialization. The enormous number of highly educated woman has been raised while they have little took part in the social activities. It became a new problem of the society. This study, therefore, aims at analysing the female collegians employment consciousness and their career readiness situation in order to develop a program to guide the career course for the girl students of Universities in Korea. The three conceptions of questionaires were designed to investigate the famale students' employment consciousness ; That is, career consciousness, sex role and environmental factor. Such two methods as the O'Neil's Career Factor Check List, and the Spence and Helmerich's Attitudes Towards Women Scale (AWS) were used to recognize them. For a week, the rashly collected 900 girl students at Dong-Guk Univ were sampled, and then 817 responses of them were selected to analyse. χ²-test and one-way ANOVA were carried out to grasp the general characteristics over the matters. At first, the majority of female collegians (97.4%) hoped to get a job. Most of them (77.6%) put more emphasis on marriage than on work. It causes employers to consider that women graduated from the Universities are not progressive either rational. Neither do they get a job easily, nor do they deliberate future, aptitude, and major when they get to work. We can also discover the female collegians' career consciousness is influenced by the attitude toward sex role. Now that the distorted social general idea on the woman employment influences career consciousness, they are being discorded psychologically. This study shows a couple of condusions as followings ; First, no wonder most of female collegians hope to work. Bust the fixed social situation unchanged frustrates many girl students and prevents them from being employed. Secondly, they do not have the obvious and subjective career consciousness. So, they ought to be leaded to a steady and slow preparation for the employment. In order to do so, the college authorities are needed to give students the special or culture lectures in advance. Finally, every kinds of public offices, companies or constitutions have to increase the employment rates of capable women graduated and establish more public day nurseries so that they can manage both marriage and work. Moreover, the introduction to employment by the hour, the prevention of the sex distinction and labor surroundings improvement should be realized as soon as possible.
