This study was performed to investigate the physicochemical characteristics after producing chitosansalt by adding chitosan to salt. Cl− value of chitosan-salt was same with that of the control group and that meant the salinity of the chitosan-salt was not different with that of the salt. While salt generally increases angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity, chitosan-salt inhibited the ACE activity. For all microorganisms 3% chitosan-salt was the most effective in antimicrobial activity. When systolic blood pressure (SBP) of Sprague-dawley rats (SDR) was examined for 5 weeks to evaluate in vivo effects of chitosan-salt, all groups did not show significant difference between supplement period and group. In addition, plasma total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) concentration were not different in all groups. This result was considered to be use of normotensive SDR so changes of SBP were investigated with spontaneous hypertensive rat (SHR). normal diet supplement group (NDSG) administered with captopril showed the largest decrease of SBP (p<0.001)and SBP of normal diet+3% chitosan salt supplement group (CSSG) also decreased significantly (p<0.001). However, that of normal+3% table salt supplement group (TSSG) increased significantly with times course (p<0.001). These results suggested that increasing blood pressure in salt intake by using chitosan was caused by not sodium but chloride and chitosan’s effect of eliminating Cl from NaCl was considered to be a main cause.
CONSTRUCTION, ASSEMBLY AND COMMISSIONING OF KSTAR MAIN STRUCTURES

The KSTAR device succeeded in first plasma generation on 13th June of 2008 through comprehensive system test and commissioning. Among various kinds of the key factors that decisively affected the project, success in the construction and assembly of the major tokamak structure was most important one. Every engineering aspects of each structure were finally confirmed in the integrated commissioning period, and there were no severe troubles and failures prevented the KSTAR device from operating during the commissioning and the first plasma experiments. As a result, all of the experiences and technologies achieved through the KSTAR construction process are expected to be important fundamentals for future construction projects of superconducting fusion devices. This paper summarizes key engineering features of the major structures and of the machine assembly.

Choi, Choong-Lyeol. 2000. Meaning Interpretation of Pronouns in Donkey Sentences. Journal of the Linguistic Association of Korea, 8(3), 259-279. The aim of this paper is to provide a framework to explain the intricate problems of the pronouns in donkey sentences. After Evans(1980) proposed that we should acknowledge a fourth pronoun, the so-called E-type pronoun, many approaches, such as, E-type analysis, Discourse Representation Theory, and The Dynamic Binding Theory, tried to explain the intricate characteristics and problems centering on the pronouns in donkey sentences. But their explanations have not a few deficiencies in many respects. I want to propose that the meanings of the pronouns in donkey sentences should be explained through the framework of cognitive grammar which are based on the concepts like the world which can reflect our mental spaces, the interpretation rules, and so forth. The interpretation rules I want to propose are as follows: 1) meaning interpretations are to be done in W_0 in most cases, 2) contradictions are to be avoided within a world, and 3) background assumptions in M are to be similar to those in R. 미토콘드리아 DNA 증폭을 이용한 한국의 잎응애속(Tetranychus, Acarina: Tetranychidae) 4종의 동정방법

미국과 캐나다는 한국에 분포하는 잎응애속(Tetranychus)중 범세계적 분포종인 점박이응애(T. urticae Koch)를 제외한 벚나무응애(Tetranychus vienensis Zacher), 차응애(T. kanzawai Kishida), 뽕나무응애(T. truncatus Ehara)를 검역대항으로 하고 있다. 잎응애속 응애들은 암컷성충으로 월동휴면에 들어가는데 기존의 수컷생색기의 형태를 위주로 한 동정방법으로는 이 휴면태의 암컷을 정확히 동정하기 어렵다. 월동을 위해 사과 과실 꼭지부에 우발적으로 부착할 가능성이 있는 것으로 우려되는 잎응애속 응애들의 월동휴면태에 대한 신속, 정확한 동정법이 수출검역현장에서 절실히 요구되는 실정이다. 사과의 주요해충인 점박이응애와 과수원 주변에서 발견되는 벚나무응애, 뽕나무응애, 차응애의 미토콘드리아 DNA(mtDNA)내 cytochrome oxidase subunit I(CO-I) 유전자를 PCR로 증폭하고 증폭된 DNA의 종간 변이를 이용하여 발육영기나 암수에 관계없이 동정할 수 있는 방법을 찾는 연구를 수행하였다. 세쌍의 primer에 의해 미토콘드리아 DNA의 CO-I 유전자 일부(680 bp)를 중복되게 증폭하였고 증폭된 유전자는 제한효소 AluI, DdeI, Sau3A 대하여 응애종간 특이적 인식부위를 가지고 있었다. 제한효소에 의해 절단되는 특이적 DNA 단편은 Tetranychus 응애류를 동정하는데 유용한 표식인자로 사용될 수 있을 것이다. 아울러 증폭한 CO-I 유전자내의 제한효소 인식부위에 대한 이들 4종 응애의 유전자지도를 작성하였다. Except for a cosmopolitan and major pest of apples, Tetranychus urticae Koch, Tetranychus mites in Korea such as T. viennensis Zaher, T. kanzawai Kishida, and T. truncams Ehara have been considered as quarantine pests by Canada and United States. Even though these mites are not feeders on apples, they are suspected to attach accidentally on apple h i t s in autumn as females enter the diapause. The characters used to identify Tetranychus mites have been confined to the shape of aedeagus in adult male. To develope a fast and accurate alternative identification protocol applied to hibernating female mites on apples, their mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) were examined to find out any polymorphisms to discriminate each species from the other ones. Three pairs of primers for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were used to amplify cytochrome oxidase subunit I (CO-I) coding region in mitochondrial DNA5 of four species of Tetranycus mites. The longest amplified product was estimated its size as about 680 bp. Digestion with restriction enzymes, AluI, Ddel, and Sau3A, showed length polymorphisms, which will he useful as diagnostic markers to identify Tetranychus mites. Schematic restriction maps in amplified region were shown for each species.
Support vector expectile regression using IRWLS procedure

In this paper we propose the iteratively reweighted least squares procedure to solve the quadratic programming problem of support vector expectile regression with an asymmetrically weighted squares loss function. The proposed procedure enables us to select the appropriate hyperparameters easily by using the generalized cross validation function. Through numerical studies on the artificial and the real data sets we show the effectiveness of the proposed method on the estimation performances.
Variable selection in censored kernel regression

For censored regression, it is often the case that some input variables are not impor-tant, while some input variables are more important than others. We propose a novel algorithm for selecting such important input variables for censored kernel regression, which is based on the penalized regression with the weighted quadratic loss function for the censored data, where the weight is computed from the empirical survival function of the censoring variable. We employ the weighted version of ANOVA decomposition kernels to choose optimal subset of important input variables. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of the proposed variable selection method.

Choi, Choong-Lyeol. 1997. Implicatures of Conditional Sentences. Linguistics, 5-2, 289-307. The aim of this paper is to provide a framework to explain the implicatures of conditional sentences. We, first, argue that we can't explain the implicatures of conditional sentences when we use the concept, material implication, for the English 'if-then' construction, and then examine the earlier approaches to implicatures, such as, Akatsuka(1985, 1986), Fillmore(1990), and Sweeter(1996), and show their defects. And we inquire into the cognitive approach which is based on some basic concepts like worlds, cognitive principles and interpretation principles. With the help of those concepts, the cognitive approach can solve the intricate problems well in explaining the implicatures of conditional sentences as shown in section 4. This means that our linguistic theory should be constructed on the idea that our language ultimately contributes to the expansion of our cognitive worlds. (Jeonju University)
