      • Effect of host genetic background on the offspring sex ratio in the Wolbachia infected Trichogramma kaykai

        The α-proteobacterium Wolbachia pipientis infects a wide range of arthropods and filarial nematodes. Wolbachia is maternally inherited and is known to induce reproductive anomalies such as cytoplasmic incompatibility, feminization, male killing and parthenogenesis induction (PI). Trichogramma kaykai is a tiny wasp that parasitizes on lepidopteran eggs. When a female of the wasp is infected with PI-Wolbachia, the female produces female offspring via gamete duplication without the aid of sperm. As she ages, however, the fraction of male offspring increases. In this study, we investigated the effect of host genetic background on the expression of sex ratio between isofemale lines. Virgin females of six isofemale lines were allowed to lay eggs individually for 10 days. There was the positive relationship between female age and the offspring sex ratio. Furthermore, the sex ratio was significantly different among isofemale lines, implying that the host genetic background had an effect on the sex ratio. Based on the results, evolution of symbiosis in terms of sex ratio and future experimental design are discussed.

      • Effects of host genetic backgrounds and the offspring sex ratio in the Wolbachia infected Trichogramma wasps

        The α-proteobacterium Wolbachia is maternally inherited and is known to induce reproductive distortions in a wide range of insect taxa such as cytoplasmic incompatibility, feminization, male killing and parthenogenesis (PI). When a female is infected with PI-Wolbachia, she does not need a male to produce female offspring, because the female can produce female offspring via gamete duplication without the aid of sperm. However, in the parasitoid wasp Trichogramma kaykai species, Wolbachia infected parthenogenetic females still produce a fraction of male offspring. Offspring sex ratio for 10 days are different according to each T. kaykai isofemale line that is infected with PI- Wolbachia. This may be caused by complex interactions between Wolbachia and the host genetic backgrounds on converting sex of infected eggs.

        Preparation of PVdF/GO Nanofiber Composite Membranes and its Heavy Metal Removal Characteristics

        본 연구에서는 전기방사법을 이용하여 PVdF/GO 나노섬유 복합분리막을 제조하고, 중금속(납, 카드뮴)이온에 대한 제거특성평가를 진행하였다. 합성된 GO 및 복합분리막은 SEM, FTIR, Raman 분석 및 tensometer를 이용하여 특성평가를 진행하였으며, 위 결과로부터 다양한 기능기를 가진 GO의 합성 및 PVdF 나노섬유 내에 복합화되어 있는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 합성된 GO의 Langmuir 및 Freundlich 흡착 등온선 연구를 실시하였다. PVdF/GO 나노섬유 복합분리막은 친수특성을 보여주고 있으며, PVdF 나노섬유 분리막 대비 최대 3배 이상의 높은 수투과도를 나타내었다. PVdF/GO20의 중금속 제거율은 시간에 따라 점차 증가하였으며, 2시간 이후 95.2% (Pb), 98.3% (Cd)에 각각 도달하는 것을 확인하였다. 위 결과로부터 제조된 PVdF/GO 나노섬유 복합분리막은 하폐수처리 시스템에 충분히 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. This paper describes the preparation of PVdF/graphene oxide (GO) nanofiber composite membranes via electrospining and their removal characteristics of heavy metal ions (e.g., lead and cadmium). The synthesized GO and composite membranes were characterized by SEM, FTIR, Raman analysis, and tensometry. These results demonstrated the successful synthesis of GO with various functional groups and their incorporation into the PVdF nanofibers. In addition, the adsorption isotherm studies of the synthesized GO using both the Langmuir and Freundlich models were carried out. The PVdF/GO nanofiber composite membranes showed hydrophilic characteristics and higher pure water flux (up to 3 times) than that of a neat PVdF nanofiber membranes. The heavy removal rate of PVdF/GO20 increased gradually as a function of time which reached at 95.2% (Pb) and 98.3% (Cd) after 2 h, respectively. From these results, prepared PVdF/GO nanofiber composite membranes have shown a great potential to be utilized for the wastewater system.

        A Brief Sketch of Architectural Works Copyright with the United States Cases

        These days the copyright plays a significant role in various fields of creative works and it has expanded dramatically into unprecedented ways. In Korea, architectural works copyright cases are rare due to the lack of information and understanding of the architectural works copyright. Architectural works copyright can promote architects’ creative activities and enhance the quality of architectural works as art. Nevertheless, there is little effort to advance the studies of architectural works copyright in the architectural design area. Under these circumstances, this research attempts to share the basic case laws and remedies for various architectural works copyright issues in the U.S. cases. This Article examines the Thomas Shine v. David M. Childs and Skidmore Owings & Merrill, LLP Case which is the most recent case as I could reach. This case is about a story between two architects, one is from a very prestigious architectural design firm and the other, once Yale Architectural student, now practices his design work as an up-and-coming architect. A close examination of this case will provide a legal and architectural spectrum of copyright. That is, it will make it more specific how to solve the copyright infringement. Artistic and technological contexts are overlapped in Architectural works copyright as its inherent characteristics. Therefore, different ways from other copyrighted works are needed to access the untangled equations of the architectural works copyright protection. In addition, more comprehensible and specific regulations that can impose a remedy more suited to the architectural works copyright violations are needed and they should enable architects to fulfill their architectural activities under wide range of copyright protection. Moreover, in prior to all efforts to handle those equations, fundamental knowledge of architectural works copyright is required to improve the copyright protection in the architectural design area as well as to provide for the globalizing design practice. Ultimately, all of these efforts will be rewarded when constant researches based on Korean and other countries’ architectural copyright cases can support them and it would be great if this research can set the stage for resolving expected copyright conflicts within the architectural design area.

      • Male Density Effect on Mating Behavior and Offspring Sex Ratio in Trichogramma Wasps (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae)

        In Hymenoptera, thanks to its haplodiploid sex determination, arrhenotokous parasitoid females are able to control offspring sex ratio by determining whether to use sperm or not at the time of oviposition. However, the offspring sex ratio may also be influenced by the mating behavior of a male. When a male searches females, he will have more chances to encounter with other males in a high male density population than low male density population. If the male is competitive, the male can find females faster and may have longer copulation time, and eventually transfer more sperm than other males. In this study, we investigated mate searching time, copulation duration and offspring sex ratio as a function of the male density. Although the results show difference between searching time and copulation duration, they are not statistically significant. We will discuss the statistical consequence, male density dependent offspring sex ratio and its evolutionary implications.

      • 초등학생의 ICT 활용 기능과 초등컴퓨터 재량활동 교재 분석

        초등학교에서 재량활동인 컴퓨터 교재의 내용은 ICT 소양교육을 중점으로 기능 교육(한글, 파워포인트, 윈도우, 통신등)에 대한 내용이 대부분을 차지하고 있다. 특히, 초등학생들은 이미 생활에서 쉽게 접하는 정보화 시스템에 익숙하여 컴퓨터를 다루는 기능은 교재의 수준을 상당히 갖추고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 현재 초등학교에서 사용하고 있는 초등컴퓨터 재량활동 교재의 내용에 변화가 필요함을 나타내기 위하여 부산광역시교육청의 초등컴퓨터 재량활동 교재인 ‘즐거운 컴퓨터’의 내용과 부산광역시 4,5,6학년 초등학생들의 ICT 활용기능을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과를 통하여 초등학생의 ICT 기술능력이 컴퓨터 교재의 내용을 앞서고 있음을 보 이고 향후 교재내용의 변화가 있어야함을 보인다.

        건축디자인 분야에서 의 저작권 문제에 관한 연구

        우리나라의 경우, 건축디자인 분야에서의 저작권의 문제에 대해서는 홍보나 인식의 부족으로 실제로 관련 분쟁이 발생하더라도 적극적으로 대처하는 사례를 찾아보기 힘들며 이에 대한 연구 또한 부족하다. 이러한 상황에서 본 논문을 통하여 건축디자인 분야에서의 저작권 관련 문제의 해결을 위한 이론적 기초를 마련하는 데 기여하고자 한다. 건축디자인 분야에서의 저작권 보호를 기존의 다른 저작물에 대한 보호 방법의 연장선상에서만 생각해 보는 것은적절하지 않다. 건축디자인 분야에서의 저작권은 기술적인 측면과 디자인적인 측면을 함께 가지고 있는 건축저작물만의 고유한 특성으로 인해 기존의 다른 저작물들과는 차이가 있기 때문이다. 건축디자인 분야에서 저작권을 보호하기 위한 구체적인 방안으로서는 첫째, 건축저작물의 독자적인 특성을 고려하여 현행 지적재산권 제도와는 별도의 보호제도를 마련하는 것이 필요하다고 생각한다. 둘째, 건축디자인 분야의 저작권에 대한 인식을 고취하고 점차 증대되고 있는 국내외적인 디자인 교류와 시장 개방 추세에 적절히 대처하기 위해서 건축저작권의 올바른 이해와 활용이 필요하다. 셋째, 앞으로는 일반 건축가의 건축저작물에까지 저작권 등록을확대하는 방안을 생각해 볼 수 있다. 결국 이러한 제도적인 노력을 뒷받침하기 위해서는 우리나라뿐만 아니라 외국의 건축저작권에 대한 연구가 계속되어야 할 것이다. In Korea, architectural works copyright cases are rare due to the lack of information and understanding of the architectural works copyright. Nevertheless, there is little interest to advance the studies of architectural works copyright. Under these circumstances, this research attempts to develop the basic case laws and remedies for various copyright issues in the architectural design area. It is not appropriate to judge architectural copyrighted works with the same criteria as used in other copyrighted works. The architectural works copyright must be considered both in artistic and technological contexts because of its own characteristics. This study suggests these solutions for the protection of the architectural works copyright. First, in addition to the current copyright law, specially designed regulations are needed for the architectural works copyright protection. Second, fundamental knowledge of architectural works copyright information is needed to improve the copyright protection in the architectural design area as well as to provide for the globalizing design practice. Third, for the ftill protection of the architectural works copyright, the copyright registration should be extended to individual architects works. Ultimately, all of these efforts will be 代warded when constant researches based on Korean and other countries’ architectural copyright cases can support them.
