      • A Pilot Genome-wide Association Study of Breast Cancer Susceptibility Loci in Indonesia

        Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of the entire genome provide a systematic approach for revealing novel genetic susceptibility loci for breast cancer. However, genetic association studies have hitherto been primarily conducted in women of European ancestry. Therefofre we here performed a pilot GWAS with a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array 5.0 platform from $Affymetrix^{(R)}$ that contains 443,813 SNPs to search for new genetic risk factors in 89 breast cancer cases and 46 healthy women of Indonesian ancestry. The case-control association of the GWAS finding set was evaluated using PLINK. The strengths of allelic and genotypic associations were assessed using logistic regression analysis and reported as odds ratios (ORs) and P values; P values less than $1.00{\times}10^{-8}$ and $5.00{\times}10^{-5}$ were required for significant association and suggestive association, respectively. After analyzing 292,887 SNPs, we recognized 11 chromosome loci that possessed suggestive associations with breast cancer risk. Of these, however, there were only four chromosome loci with identified genes: chromosome 2p.12 with the CTNNA2 gene [Odds ratio (OR)=1.20, 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.13-1.33, $P=1.08{\times}10^{-7}$]; chromosome 18p11.2 with the SOGA2 gene (OR=1.32, 95%CI=1.17-1.44, $P=6.88{\times}10^{-6}$); chromosome 5q14.1 with the SSBP2 gene (OR=1.22, 95%CI=1.11-1.34, $P=4.00{\times}10^{-5}$); and chromosome 9q31.1 with the TEX10 gene (OR=1.24, 95%CI=1.12-1.35, $P=4.68{\times}10^{-5}$). This study identified 11 chromosome loci which exhibited suggestive associations with the risk of breast cancer among Indonesian women.

        Target Market Selection Using MCDM Approach: A Study of Rolling Stock Manufacturer

        Purpose: This study examines the market segmentation and strategy of PT INKA, a rolling stock manufacturer in Indonesia. Research design, data and methodology: The study used the MCDM (Multiple Criteria Decision Making) method specifically the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process). The AHP method was applied to identify the target market. This method or approach considers the market attractiveness and competitive strength criteria with quantified parameters. Results: a) Australia, Kenya, Tanzania, New Zealand, and India emerge as the top five target markets; b) There is justification for rolling stock manufacturers to allocate their resources in winning the market share. Conclusion: The main challenge confronting the rolling stock manufacturer is limited resources to acquire a particular market share despite abundant opportunities in this sector. Despite the mastery of technology and long experience in the industry, selecting a target market with multiple criteria could be difficult for an emerging rolling stock manufacturer in South East Asia

        Quantified Self-Using Consumer Wearable Device: Predicting Physical and Mental Health

        Objectives: Recently, wearable device technology has gained more popularity in supporting a healthy lifestyle. Hence, researchers have begun to put significant efforts into studying the direct and indirect benefits of wearable devices for health and wellbeing. This paper summarizes recent studies on the use of consumer wearable devices to improve physical activity, mental health, and health consciousness. Methods: A thorough literature search was performed from several reputable databases, such as PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, arXiv, and bioRxiv mainly using “wearable device research” as a keyword, no earlier than 2018. As a result, 25 of the most recent and relevant papers included in this review cover several topics, such as previous literature reviews (9 papers), wearable device accuracy (3 papers), self-reported data collection tools (3 papers), and wearable device intervention (10 papers). Results: All the chosen studies are discussed based on the wearable device used, complementary data, study design, and data processing method. All these previous studies indicate that wearable devices are used either to validate their benefits for general wellbeing or for more serious medical contexts, such as cardiovascular disorders and post-stroke treatment. Conclusions: Despite their huge potential for adoption in clinical settings, wearable device accuracy and validity remain the key challenge to be met. Some lessons learned and future projections, such as combining traditional study design with statistical and machine learning methods, are highlighted in this paper to provide a useful overview for other researchers carrying out similar research.

        Effects of Work Motivation and Leadership toward Work Satisfaction and Employee Performance: Evidence from Indonesia

        The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of work motivation and leadership on job satisfaction and its implications on employee performance. A total of 355 samples of Bukit Asam Coal Mining Company Ltd. in Indonesia were selected proportionally with random sampling. Data were obtained through questionnaires. Data analysis technique employed structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS 22. The results of the study show that leadership and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Leadership has a more considerable influence (0.263) than work motivation (0.171) toward employee job satisfaction. The influence of leadership towards job performance is 0.175. The influence of work motivation towards job performance is 0.166. Job satisfaction has the most dominant influence (0.363) towards employee performance. The direct effect of leadership on employee performance is 0.175 greater than the indirect influence of leadership on employee performance through employee job satisfaction, which is only 0.096. Likewise, the direct effect of work motivation towards employee performance is 0.166 greater than the indirect effect of work motivation towards employee performance through employee job satisfaction, which is only 0.062. Thus, job satisfaction does not mediate the effects of leadership and work motivation toward employee performance.

        Employee Performance Optimization Through Transformational Leadership, Procedural Justice, and Training: The Role of Self-Efficacy

        This study aims to analyze the effect of transformational leadership (TL), procedural justice (PJ), and training (T) on employee performance (EP) mediated by self-efficacy (SE). The object of this research is Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah (RSUD) M.Th. Djaman, a hospital in Sanggau Regency, while the subjects are the institution's staff. Data collection search uses purposive sampling with a total of 120 samples. Data are obtained through questionnaires distributed directly to respondents using the Google Form application. Data analysis techniques used in this study include standard error of mean (SEM) with AMOS software version 24.00. Methods use to test validity and reliability of data include Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Construct Reliability (CR) and VE. The results of the analysis show that only training has a significant effect on self-efficacy, and self-efficacy has a significant effect on employee performance. Also, self-efficacy is proven to mediate the role of training on employee performance; the other hypotheses are not significant. Training is the most prominent positive factor affecting self-efficacy and self-efficacy has a significant effect on employee performance at RSUD M.Th. Djaman. The results of this study can be used as a reference by management in determining what policy priorities should take precedence.

      • Screening of BRCA1/2 Mutations Using Direct Sequencing in Indonesian Familial Breast Cancer Cases

        Breast cancer has emerged as the most prevalent cancer among women worldwide, including in Indonesia. The contribution of genes associated with high-risk breast-ovarian cancers, BRCA1 and BRCA2, in the Indonesian population is relatively unknown. We have characterized family history of patients with moderate- to high-risk of breast cancer predisposition in 26 unrelated cases from Indonesia for BRCA1/2 mutation analyses using direct sequencing. Known deleterious mutations were not found in either BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes. Seven variants in BRCA2 were documented in 10 of 26 patients (38%). All variants were categorized as unclassified (VUSs). Two synonymous variants, c.3623A>G and c.4035T>C, were found in 5 patients. One variant, c4600T>C, was found in a 38 year old woman with a family history of breast cancer. We have found 4 novel variants in BRCA2 gene including c.6718C>G, c.3281A>G, c.10176C>G, and c4490T>C in 4 unrelated patients, all of them having a positive family history of breast cancer. In accordance to other studies in Asian population, our study showed more frequent variants in BRCA2 compared to BRCA1. Further studies involving larger numbers of hereditary breast cancer patients are required to reveal contribution of BRCA1/2 mutations and/or other predisposing genes among familial breast cancer patients in Indonesia.

        Antecedents and Consequences of Cyberloafing in Service Provider Industries: Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0

        Cyberloafing is activity deviation at the workplace where employees intentionally avoid doing their job during working hours that results in a decrease in productivity. Particularly in the context of this study, cyberloafing activity is the usage of the Internet while working. Yet, studies on the antecedents and consequences of cyberloafing in the context of industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0 have not been conducted. This research used a purposive convenient sampling of 280 employees in the business services branches in Indonesia, particularly the representative business service branches located in some cities and regencies, including Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, and Bantul Regency (Special Region of Yogyakarta) and its surroundings. The results show 3 antecedents of cyberloafing and 1 consequence of cyberloafing which influence each other. Furthermore, these findings have filled the existing gaps regarding the antecedents and consequences of cyberloafing in service provider industries in the context of industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that the five hypotheses proposed in this study are supported. The antecedents and consequences of cyberloafing have been tested and proven in this study as a contribution to science and technology.

        The impact of career development on employee performance: an empirical study of the public sector in Indonesia

        This article examines the infl uence of career development on employee performance in public sector, mediated by perceived organizational support, work motivation, and affective commitment. By analyzing the perceptions of 250 civil servants in 15 regional branches of Ministry of Finance of Indonesia, and using structural equation analysis with SmartPLS 2.0 program, the findings reveal that career development has positive direct influence on perceived organizational support, motivation, and affective commitment. However, career development has no direct influence on performance. The indirect examination shows that mediating variables are perceived to have significant influence in strengthening that relationship. These findings theoretically imply that career development may be dependent on the extent to which organization is capable of providing perceived organizational support and motivation in promoting affective commitment and performance. Practically, these findings reveal the importance of both Indonesian’s central and local government to implement performance-based rewards.

        Transformer Oil Dielectric Characteristics in Microwave Assisted Reconditioning Processes

        Maintenance of transformer oil is needed to maintain the quality of power service. Thermal heating and fltering are the main ways to remove contaminants from the oil. In this research, a preliminary study was carried out using microwaves as thermal heaters in the reconditioning process of used transformer oil. The reconditioning process is carried out by fltering and thermal heating varies from temperatures of 40–100 °C using a microwave oven. Dielectric characteristics are shown by analyzing breakdown voltage, dielectric power loss, viscosity, and dc conductivity measurements. The amount of moisture content is also taken into account in measuring the level of thermal efciency of the heater. Under the infuence of microwaves, an increase in the characteristics of the dielectric strength in the form of an increase in breakdown voltage reaches 140.50%. Microwave heating is very good in reducing the water content in oil with a level of thermal efciency reaching 25.55–40.40%. Removal of contaminants is better done by microwaves characterized by a decrease in the value of the dielectric power loss and dc conductivity at each treatment.

        Diffuse flow characteristics and their relation to hydrochemistry conditions in the Petoyan Spring, Gunungsewu Karst, Java, Indonesia

        This study was conducted on the Petoyan Spring, one of the most important springs in the western part of Gunung Sewu Karst, Java, Indonesia. The main purpose of the study is to define the diffuse flow characteristics of the spring. It also focuses on identifying the relationship between the diffuse flow proportion and several hydrochemical parameters to provide a better aquifer characterization. Water-level monitoring and discharge measurements were conducted over an eight months period in order to define the discharge hydrograph. The calculation of recession constants, including the diffuse flow (Kb), fissure flow (Ki), and conduit flow (Kc), was done by selecting several flood hydrograph events. Furthermore, the base flow-separation analysis was conducted to determine the diffuse flow proportion throughout the research period. Water sampling for hydrogeochemical analysis was taken every week and every hour for two selected flood events. A bivariate plot analysis between the diffuse flow proportion and certain hydrochemical parameters was made in order to describe the hydrogeochemical processes. The results showed that the diffuse- flow significantly dominates the spring discharge during non-flooding and flooding recession periods. Conversely, during the rising limb period, the diffuse proportion decreased drastically due to the conduit flow supply. This fact was also supported by the high Kb and short Tp (time to peak) and Tb (time to base flow) values. Hydrogeochemically the correlation between the diffuse flow proportion and major dissolved elements during the flood recession periods was strong because the conduit flow domination was replaced by the diffuse flow, causing the domination of water-rock interaction. According to the diffuse flow and its relation to its hydrochemistry, it is apparent that small fractures in the Petoyan Spring aquifer still provide good storage for the diffuse flow, even though the conduit fracture has already been developed.
