Exergy is defined as the energy that is available to provide useful work. Exergy analysis is performed in industries to use energy more efficiently. Application of the exergy concept in describing various heating and cooling systems enables us to have a better picture of the systems. Inlet fogging is an evaporative cooling technique for turbo machinery. In this paper energy and exergy analysis is made on the inlet fogging system employed in the inlet air cooling of turbo machines. Different ambient conditions are considered in the analysis.

Impaction pin nozzles are widely used in a large number of engineering applications. For inlet air cooling of turbo machines using fog sprays, it is essential to have prior knowledge of droplet size distribution in the spray. Present paper reports the experimental determination of droplet size distribution of the fog spray from an impaction pin nozzle. The measurements were carried out using global sizing velocimetry technique. Results obtained are in good agreement with available data.
