Giving a useful and comprehensive multimedia resource for information on William Shakespeare, his life and the Elizabethan Age as well as his plays most frequently studied and performed nowadays, this paper tries to direct the attention of Korean educators and students seeking Shakespeare to the ways which multimedia-aided teaching and learning can dramatically enhance and speed up the process of Shakespeare's textual, scholarly and theatrical study overtaking the traditional readings of printed text in the classroom. Adopting this effective innovative and easy-to-use method, teachers can make students increase their understanding of Shakespeare's plays and his world and also allow them to use it as an independent study and research tool as well as an entertaining way to gain greater understanding and enjoyment of his work. It will bring them new and memorable experience of the dramatic world of Shakespeare in the process go watching video recordings and CD-ROM representations of famous scenes and productions.

죤 던의 "Anniversaries"의 중요성에 대하여

This paper examines the importance and meaning of the two "Anniversaries."("The Anatomy of the Word": "Of The Progress of the Soul") by John Donne in special relation to his life and religion. THe analysis of the "Anniversaries" helps us to understand his philosophical and religious position in 1611-12. Also it allows us to se how ge overcame the seemingly unbridgeable conflicts between humanity and divinity, death and immortality and finally reached at the integrated vision of hyman destiny within the perception of divinity. The study also finds that overall structure of the "Anniversaries." characterized by its movement hymanity form the downward to the upward, supports the pivotal meaning of the peoms in John Donne's life just before his acceptance of religious order.

This paper tries to discuss the acts of judgement of Othello. These are the findings of the study. One of them is the decision by the Duke on Brabantio's complaint against Othello. The Duke quite unfairly dismisses it on the basis of Desdemona's testimony and of the urgency of the state. Next one is Othello's judgement of Cassio for his commotion. Othello rushes to his decision to dismiss Cassio, without a full and correct inquiry of the situation. At the near end of the play, Othello, identifying himself as a just judge and executioner, judges and damns Desdemona for her faithfulness and kills her. Finally, Othello damns and executes himself after acknowledging belatedly the chastity and innocence of Desdemona as well as his dreadful folly.

This paper probes into the structure and aspect of confrontation between Hamlet and Claudius. Part one probes how Hamlet is made to seek certitude about the Ghost in relation to Ghost's testimony against Claudius. Part two analyzes first Hamlet's antic disposition and also his awareness of Claudius' crime by means of the players' performance. It also discusses how Hamlet's search develops into the broader inquiry about death and about his choice of conduct. Part three examines the final stage of his quest for certitude, where he comes to a definite attitude toward death and human destiny and where his inquiry into certitude through the gathering of evidence gives place to his putting faith in readiness. This is exemplified in his acceptance of the fencing bout and in his execution of the King.

브래너의 영화 햄릿은 셰익스피어의 희곡 햄릿의 핵심인 왕자의 인간적 고뇌와 함께 덴마크 왕궁 내외의 정치적 암투를 전면에 내세운다. 브래너에게 햄릿왕자의 개인적 그리고 내적 이야기는 그것만의 공백 속에 존재하는 것이 아니다. 브래너의 영화는 배경, 분위기 그리고 대본에서 기존의 햄릿 영화들과 완전한 단절을 시도한다. 지난 오심 여년의 햄릿 영화들이 햄릿의 심리적 측면을 강조한 나머지 원작의 광범위한 사회적, 정치적 의미를 경시하거나 배제하였다. 이 점을 브래너가 영화 햄릿을 통하여 바로 잡았으며, 그의 영화는 단순한 영상물을 넘어 희곡 햄릿을 제대로 이해하는데 절대적 도움을 준다. The paper tries to delve into Hamlet with the politics as well as the personal relationships to the fore. For Branagh the point was that the personal stories did not exist in a vacuum. In his film Hamlet Branagh revives the play's larger social and political implications which had bee downplayed or eliminated tin past fifty years. Also Branagh's film makes a complete break with this tradition in setting, atmosphere, film script and approach, The findings of this study are that The play's larger social and political implications boldly revises the dominant twentieth century ideas about Hamlet on screen as well as complete understanding of Hamletiet is possible.
