A Study has been performed on the effect of impact toughness on the aging treatment of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu(X), X-Cr and X-Zr with a high contents Zinc. Using Vickers hardness tester, We investigated the aging characteristics of three alloys under various temperature of heat treatment. We studied the toughness using Instrumented Charpy machine. The experimental results showed that the toughness were increased by X-Cr and X-Zr compared with X alloy. But there is no effect in the aging characteristics. It was believed that the toughness increased was due to grain size refinement and homogeneous distribution of small particles. As age hardening increases, decrease of absorbed energy was due to a decrease of crack-propagation energy. Both age hardening velocity and maximum hardness value turned out to be high. As age hardening, the fracture mode changes from brittle grain boundary fracture to ductile dimple type transgranular fracture.

Malignant potency are important to evaluate the tumor characteristics, to decide the diagnosis, and treatment and to predict the prognosis. So, many investigators have tried the methods to predict the malignant potency. Epidermal growth factor(EGF) and oncogenes are related to the differentiation and proliferation of neoplastic cells. The analysis of relationship between malignant potency and prognosis by observing the expression of them are useful to identify the biologic characteristics of neoplastic cells. Malignant tumor may occur due to failure of control of cell proliferation by activating the oncogenes and protein product of oncogene identified by immunohistochemical study may he possible to tumor marker. However, the expression of protein product of oncogene according to cell types of tumor were too variable to predict the prognosis. Author evaluated the expression and distribution of protein product of EGF, c-erbB, c-erbB-2 and c-myc to the neoplastic cells by immunohistochemical study in 31 laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas and compared them with clinical characteristics and prognosis in order to predict the possibility of tumor marker. Results were as follows : 1) Expression of protein product of EGF and c-erbB were increased in supraglottis, higher pathologic grade, and advanced stage. 2) Expression of protein product of c-erbB was increased in persistant and recurrent cases. 3) Survival rates were worse in cases of expression of protein product of EGF and c-erbB. 4) Expression of protein product of c-erbB-2 and c-myc were not related to tumor marker. In conclusion, immunohistochemical study by protein product of EGF and c-erbB in laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas were important to identify the tumor characteristics and were related to the prognosis and may be useful as tumor markers.
