Cymbeline에 나타난 '내기(wager)이야기'의 의미

1999년 초 할리우드에 불어 닥친 셰익스피어 열풍의 진원지 격인 영화 셰익스피어 인러브 의 대단한 흥행 덕분에 세계적인 극작가 셰익스피어에 대해 갖고 있는 일반인들의 신화가 하나 더 덧붙여질지도 모를 일이다. 아닌 게 아니라, 이 영화에서 흥미진진하게 그려진 바를 그대로 따라가다 보면 작가 셰익스피어가 자신의 애틋하고 절절한 사랑의 경험을 토대로 불명의 사랑이야기 로미오와 줄리엣을 독창적으로 창조해냈을 것이라는 신화, 달리 말해서 로미오와 줄리엣이 열렬한 사랑에 빠진 셰익스피어의 탁월한 영감의 소산일 것이라는 신화가 관객들의 뇌리에 강하게 심어질 수도 있었기 때문이다. 하지만 작가 자신의 특별한 사랑에서 비롯한 특별한 영감의 소산으로 로미오와 줄리엣을 보는 것은 어디까지나 영화 셰익스피어 인 러브 의 해석일 뿐이다. 실상 로미오와 줄리엣에서 다루어지고 있는 두 연인의 이야기가 셰익스피어에 의해 독창적으로 창조된 것이 아니라 원래 옛 전설에서 비롯된 것이라는 사실은 이미 널리 알려진 터이다. 특히 15세기와 16세기의 유럽에서는 이 이야기가 일련의 작가들에 의해 novelle의 형태로 살이 붙여져 유행하다가 영구에서는 Arthur Brooke가 이탈리아 작가 Bandello의 작품의 번역을 내놓은 이후 상당히 인기를 끌었던 이야기였던 것이다. 이처럼 셰익스피어의 거의 모든 작품은 작가 자신의 독창적인 영감의 산물이라기보다는 기존의 이런 저런 출전들을 바탕으로 한 재해석 내지 재창작이라고 보아도 크게 무리가 없다.

Cognitive behavior therapy(CBT) is currently in the mainstream of contemporary psychotherapeutic approaches. However, we are not actively applying CBT to various children's emotional and behavioral problems in Korea. The purpose of the present paper is to encourage the use of CBT by introducing assessment methods and treatment approaches including key methods of training delivery. This paper also considers developmental issues in the use of cognitive behavior therapy with children.

This study examined the expectations of novel readers and its meanings in the early 20th century in a world created by monotheistic narratives of Baegnyeonjeon. This novel, which was a story that was enjoyed in the form of Yadam since the late 19th century, has been widely read in the early 20th century. Baegnyeonjeon was created as a novel, actively deploying Minor characters and expanding their role. As a result, Minor Character proved the value of the main character, proved morality, and led readers to have an optimistic view of their actions. Park Yil Yong, the male protagonist in the halo of the people around him, is a descendant of the fallen family, but he internalizes the motivation for success given by Baegnyeon and endures the success of traditional men. Baegnyeon, through her marriage, pursued a desire to acquire a proper nobility, and she also managed the treasury and became the landowner of the local village and equipped the house of the noble family of Seoul. The success of these couples, originally hoped for by Baegnyeon, follows the manner in which the descendants of the fallen village nobility chose to restore their social status from the end of the nineteenth century to the beginning of the twentieth century. However, this success was a very rare possibility for those who had difficulty in having a vision for the new environment, although it was hard to achieve in the time and system, but it was unforgivable. Baegnyeonjeon realizes the wishes of Yil Yong and Baegnyeon, and is in a position to open a dead end door to reality without breakthrough. 본 연구는 <백년전>의 단조로운 서사가 만들어낸 세계에서 20세기 초 소설 독자들의 기대와 그 의미를 살펴보았다. 이 작품은 19세기 후반부터 야담으로 향유되던 이야기가 소설화된 것으로 20세기 초 활발하게 유통되고 많이 읽혔다. <백년전>은 소설화 과정에서 주변인물을 적극적으로 배치하고 그들의 역할을 확대하여 주동 인물에 대한 가치를 보증하고 도덕성을 확보하도록 했으며 그들의 행보에 대한 낙관적 전망을 가지도록 유도했다. 이처럼 주변인물의 후광을 입은 주동인물 박일용은 몰락한 집안의 후예로 불우한 형편이지만 백년에 의해 부여된 성공의 동기를 내면화하여 전통적인 남성의 성공 의지를 다졌다. 백년은 혼인을 통해 제대로 된 양반의 신분을 얻고자 하는 바람을 관철시키며 본인 역시 재물의 경영에 나서서 향촌의 지주가 되고 서울 재상가의 집치레를 갖추었다. 애초 백년에 의해 소망된 이들 부부의 성공은 19세기 말, 20세기 초 몰락한 향촌의 사족 후예가 사회적 지위를 회복하고자 선택했던 방식을 따랐다. 그러나 이러한 성공은 당시 세태와 제도 속에서 이루어지기 힘든 일이었음에도 새로운 환경에 대한 비전을 갖기 어려운 이들에게는 희박한 가능성이지만 포기할 수 없는 것이었다. 이에 <백년전>은 일용과 백년의 소망을 실현하면서 돌파구가 없는 현실에 막다른 출구를 열어두는 소임을 하고 있는 것이다.

본고는 <심청전>의 심봉사를 중심으로 가장, 가족구성원, 가족이데 올로기의 문제에 대한 향유층의 인식을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 심봉사는 가장으로서 그 어떤 자질도 갖추지 못하였고, 또 무능력과 성적 욕망을 여과없이 드러내면서 빈약한 내면을 노출시킨다. 이는 동 정을 유도하여 이야기가 가장을 재건하도록 추동하고, 신분상승과 안씨 와의 혼인이라는 서사의 귀결을 통해서 권위있는 가장을 호명한다. 비약적 결말로 보수적 가족이데올로기가 재현되는 과정에서 심학규 는 그 어떠한 역할도 하지 않지만, 문제가 모두 해결되고 자신의 신분도 수직 상승을 이룬다. 이러한 결말은 <심청전>이 신분제의 동요와 자본 의 대두로 변화하는 시기에 무기력한 가장에 대한 신랄한 비판도 현실 적인 대안도 제시하지 못한다는 것을 보여주며, 오히려 막연히 가부장 의 권위가 회복되고 유지되기를 바라는 향유층의 내면화된 이념성을 확 인시켜 준다. 또한 역설적으로 격동기에 적응하지 못한 무능한 가장을 더 이상 위기의 가정을 견고하게 지켜낼 수 있는 주체로 인식하고 있지 않다는 것을 보여준다. <심청전>은 책임을 다 하지 못한 가장일지라도 가족구성원에게는 관념적으로 권위가 견고하게 존속되며, 그 구성원들은 가장을 위한 자 기 소진이 유일한 생존전략일 수밖에 없다는 점에서 가족제도의 모순을 적나라하게 드러내는 작품이라 할 수 있다. <심청전>이 보여주는 가족 이데올로기의 문학적 형상화는 충족된 결론과 달리 공고한 이념적 자장 속에서 가족구성원의 새로운 지위와 역할을 제시하지 못했다. This thesis is aimed to know how people think of their breadwinner, family members and family ideology through Simbongsa and his family in Simcheongjeon. We will review the way the story show how Simbongsa and his family rebuild their disbanded family to us. Simbongsa in Simcheongjeon is far from the traditional vision of a breadwinner, but he is served by his wife and child just because he is the head of the family. Simbongsa’s authority as the head of his family seems very firm because Ms. Gwak and Simcheong―his wife and his daughter―are willing to sacrifice themselves for their head and worry about him even after their death. The story is caricaturing him by showing his disability and sexual desire, which make us feel sympathy for Simbongsa rather than blame the incompetent and selfish breadwinner. Not only does the sympathy encourage Simbongsa to rebuild his family but also the story result in get him on a better social status to be an authoritative breadwinner by getting married to Ms. Ahn. Luckily, Simbongsa solves the family problem with any decising-making or efforts. It is just done by a leap in the story which represents conservative family ideology. The story shows people have in mind that the authority of their breadwinners could be revived and kept alive, who neither blame nor make any realistic counter-offer to the heads of their family―even though the incompetent breadwinner cannot stand still in the rapidly changing world teased by agitation of status system and capitalism. It also tells us that incompetent breadwinners cannot protect their family from any crises. Simcheongjeon is a story about paradox of the family system by showing that self-sacrifice of family members for their breadwinner is the only way to survival although the head of their family doensn’t deserve the authority physically and ethically.
