The intent of this paper is to study the poetics development during the time from Sui dynasty to the High Tang. It demonstrates the following conclusions: In the Sui Dynasty, Sui Yangdi and other poets had written some poems compromise the merits of the southern and the northern poetry styles, hadpaved the way for the Tang poetry. In the period of Zhenguan of the Early Tang, Tang Taizong and some poets born in the north China were beginning to have the ideal of performing meritorious deeds. After Wu Zetian as condenseof throne, she took strong measures against the gentry, and broke a rule to promote the man of low station to a position of leadership, it caused all the people to be very fond of making an official, they broadened the subject matter of poetry and contributed to the creation of new forms, but they had some cringe and flatter characters. By the first half of the eighth century, thanks to the achievements of the early Tang songsters, poetry had reached its full splendor.
