본 연구의 목적은 요양원 고령 환자복 개발을 위한 실태조사를 하여 현 요양원 고령 환자복을 개선시키고자 하는데 있다. 이는 복지를 증진시키는 일로 궁극적으로 노인들의 의생활을 개선하여 삶의 질을 향상 시키리라 기대한다. 연구방법은 정성적인 연구방법과 정량적인 연구방법을 병행하였다. 정성적인 연구는 단행본과 인터넷조사에 의한 이론적 고찰이었다. 고령 질병에 관해서는 대한노인의학회, 대한노인병학회, 대한치매학회, 대한 노인요양병원협회, 대한뇌졸중학회 등에서 검색된 학회지를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 의학적 측면에서 뇌졸중과 치매, 골다공증 환자의 비율이 높고 이들을 위한 기능성 의복이 필요하다는 것을 고려하여 영국의 기능성 환자복에 대해 고찰하였다. 국내 요양원 고령환자와 요양보호사를 대상으로 설문지를 작성하여 경기도 연천군 지역의 요양원을 방문하여 설문지 배포는 물론 봉사를 하면서 개별 면담까지 실시하고 요양원에서 고령 환자들이 실제 착용하고 있는 요양원복을 분석하였다. 설문 조사 내용은 환자의 일반적 사항, 환자복 착용 실태, 환자복에 관한 불편사항, 환자복의 요구사항에 대한 평가 문항으로 이루어졌다. 본 연구 목적에 따른 분석 결과를 도출하기 위한 통계기법은 SPSS Ver.18.0을 사용하여 기술적 통계분석, 여러 질문에 대한 공통되는 주 성향을 알아보기 위한 주성분 분석을 통해 분석하였다. 현재 요양원에서 지급하고 있는 고령 환자복은 일반 환자복과 별 차이가 없고 소재나 무늬의 다양성은 기대하기 힘들고 천편일률적인 디자인으로 일반 일상복을 입고 있었다. 개선될 요양원복의 효과에 관한 질문에 보호사와 고령환자 모두 ``약간의 기분전환이 될 것이다``가 가장 많았고, 다음으로 ``환자의 미적 욕구 충족, 병의 치료에 도움을 준다``순으로 긍정적인 응답을 하여 이를 토대로 요양원 고령환자의 물리적, 심리적 치료를 위해 새로운 환자복이 고안 개발되어야 할 것이다. The purpose of study is to improve the life quality of senior citizens who have resided at a sanatorium and to give a psychological·emotional satisfaction by developing the senior men`s clothing design which regards the physical characteristics and psychological condition of each seniors who have suffered to move about, and with a dementia. As an effort for promotion of welfare, in the long run, it can elevate the quality of life by reforming the clothing for elderly people. According to the research, the rate of stroke and dementia patients is high and the need of functional clothes for those patents is urgent. Considering of England functional patient gowns and through the survey. The domestic sanatorium research has analyzed the actual sanatorium uniform which elderly patients wear by practicing the individual interview along with the preparation and distribution of survey document, visitation of sanatorium aound the region of Yeoncheon, Kyungkido, and the volunteer service. The contents of survey are consist of evaluation questons including general particular of patient, reality of patient uniform wearing, complaints from the patient uniform, and request on the patient uniform. The present patient uniforms for elderly people which is provided at the sanatorium have no critical difference to a general patient uniform and it barely has an opening of pant for patients with severe wound. Thus, rather than wearing a patient uniform, the mild patients have worn a general clothing since a patient uniform is designed monotonously and the diversity of material or design cannot be expected. For the question about the effect of improved patient uniform, ``it will help to refresh oneself`` was the answer for the most care helpers and elderly patients and in the second place, the positive answer ``it will satisfy the aesthetic desire of patients, thus it will help to cure the disease`` was responded. Therefore, the new patient uniform should be developed in order for the physical and psychological cure for patients based on the responds.
