Pureungil Park, a linear park located in Gwangju’s urban center is highly appreciated as a successful urban regeneration example. However, there has been few studies that examined the physical quality of the pedestrian walking environment in Pureungil Park. With this regards, this study aims at examining the physical characteristics on walking environment elements in Pureungil Park and their relations with user satisfaction through questionnaire survey and drawing up the ways to improve the physical environment and user satisfaction. The methodologies and findings of this study can be expected to provide basic references when a urban linear park is planned and to give ideas for physical improvement measures of the existing linear parks as well. The regression models in this study revealed that buffer space, walk-through space, adjacent space and intersecting space in order have stronger influence on the overall satisfaction on Pureungil Park. This results suggest buffer space is the first and foremost important area to improve the quality of Pureungil Park. Whereas, intersecting space was found the lowest influential on overall satisfaction.

도심선형공원의 보행자 사용패턴과 공간특성에 관한 연구 - 광주 푸른길공원의 보행량을 중심으로-

푸른길공원은 폐선부지중 하나였던 광주광역시 경전철 구간으로 도시 미관과 환경등 사회적으로 부정적인 요소로 남아있었으나 시민의 주도하에 광주 푸른길공원으로 재생되었다. 철도시설로서 기존 도심 공간구조의 단절적 요인으로 작용했던 인자가 선형의 보행공간으로 변모하여 수많은 도시의 가로 조직과 교차하면서 도시공간구조에 많은 변화를 일으키며 도심 내에 강력한 영향을 미치는 작용 인자로 자리 잡아가고 있으며, 그에 따라 이용자의 사용패턴도 복잡 다양한 양상을 보인다. 따라서 푸른길공원으로 변모한 후 푸른길공원이 도시공간구조에서 어느 정도의 위상학적 영향력을 가지고 있으며 푸른길공원의 보행자 사용패턴과 어떤 상관관계가 있는지에 관해 연구하는 것은 도심재생의 측면에서 푸른길공원의 영향력 분석과 향후 푸른길공원의 지속적인 발전과 활성화에 매우 중요한 부분이라 생각된다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 푸른길공원을 이용하는 보행자의 사용패턴을 파악하고 푸른길공원의 공간적 특성과 보행자 사용패턴과의 관계를 밝히는 것이다. 이는 도심재생의 측면에서 푸른길공원의 영향력 분석과 향후 푸른길 공원의 지속적인 발전과 활성화에 매우 중요한 부분이 될 것으로 생각된다. 이러한 점에서 본 연구는 다음과 같은 연구내용을 갖는다. 첫째, 푸른길공원의 요일별, 시간대별 보행자 사용패턴을 보행량을 중심으로 파악한다. 둘째, 푸른길공원 및 인접공간의 공간적 특성, 즉 공간구문론에 기초한 공간구조(Spatial configuration)와 토지사용패턴(Land use pattern)을 도출한다. 셋째, 이런 공간적 특성이 푸른길공원의 보행자 사용패턴과 어떤 관계가 있는지를 파악한다. 이를 통해 향후 푸른길공원의 지속적인 발전과 활성화와 유사한 도심의 선형공원의 개발전략을 수립하는 데 기초자료를 제공한다. However, there has been few studies that examined the relationships between its spatial features and pedestrian traffic volume. With this regards, this study aims at examining various spatial characteristics or variables along the Park and their relations with use pattern through observing the pedestrian traffic volume at five gates and drawing up the ways to improve the Park’s engagement into the neighboring urban areas. The methodologies and findings of this study can be expected to provide basic references when a urban linear park is planned and to give ideas for physical improvement measures of the existing linear parks as well. Through examining the relations between pedestrian use pattern and spatial configuration, this study tried to extract the multi-functionality of use of the Pureungil Park and its implications on urban park design. With this effort, this study attempted to provide with measures for further development and stimulation of the Park and background data for eco-friendly urabn linear park in the future.
