Colorimetric Determination of Singlet Oxygen Scavengers Using a Protein Photosensitizer

Despite the diverse roles of singlet oxygen ( 1 O2) in plants and animals, simple detection of 1 O2 has been limited due to technical difficulties. Here we report a colorimetric method for visualizing the generation and suppression of 1 O2 using a protein photosensitizer, mini singlet oxygen generator (miniSOG). Upon external light irradiation, miniSOG strongly produced 1 O2 and oxidized a universal chromogenic reagent, tetramethylbenzidine, leading to a rapid color change in solution. We used this finding to demonstrate the 1 O2 scavenging effects of well-known antioxidants and of natural compounds extracted from plants. Owing to its high usability and simplicity, our developed assay platform will be useful for screening potential scavengers for reactive oxygen species and will promote the development of various antioxidants.

<P> Using current-perpendicular-to-plane (CPP) magnetoresistance measurements, we derive values of twice the enhanced interface resistance, <TEX>$2AR_{\rm F/N}^{\ast}$</TEX>, and the interface scattering asymmetry, <TEX>$\gamma_{\rm F/N}$</TEX>, for the ferromagnetic/non-magnetic (F/N) pairs Ni/Ru and <TEX>${\rm Co}_{90}{\rm Fe}_{10}/{\rm Cu}$</TEX>. For Ni/Ru, we find <TEX>$2AR_{\rm Ni/Ru}^{\ast}=1.7_{-0.3}^{+0.4}\ {\rm f}\Omega{\rm m}^{2}$</TEX>, similar to the value for Fe/Cr, but we estimate <TEX>$\vert\gamma_{\rm Ni/Ru}\vert=0.15\pm 0.03$</TEX>, much smaller than the value for Fe/Cr or the asymmetry found for Ni(Ru) alloys. For <TEX>${\rm Co}_{90}{\rm Fe}_{10}$</TEX> we find <TEX>$2AR_{\rm CoFe/Cu}^{\ast}=1.1\pm 0.2$</TEX> and <TEX>$\gamma_{\rm CoFe/Cu}=0.8\pm 0.1$</TEX> , both similar to the values for Co/Cu. </P>
Technology Acceptance Model and Factors Affecting Acceptance of Social Media

The main objective of this study is to investigate the consumers’ attitude and intention toward using social media by adopting the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). This study further develops a comprehensive framework by identifying Knowledge Sharing Factors and Social Influence Factors as moderating variables that influence the relationship of attitude and behavior intention toward using social media. Based on the literature review, a research framework questionnaire is developed and conducted to test the research hypothesis in this study. The questionnaire survey method is employed to collect data from relevant social media, whereby 309 valid responses are used in the analysis. The results reveal that three TAM factors, namely, the impact of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived enjoyment are indeed the antecedents of attitude and behavior intention toward social media adoption. Also, the results indicate that social influence factors (social networking, social norms, and social trusts) and knowledge sharing factors (altruism, expected reciprocal benefit, and expected relationships) have moderating effect on the relationship between attitude and behavior intention toward social media. This research provides a comprehensive framework as important reference for professionals to develop social media marketing plan as well for academicians to conduct further validation.

The objectives of this study are (1) to review previous studies in the context of brand management in consumer behaviors using costumer based brand equity (CBBE) and theory of planned behavior (TPB) as the basic foundation of the study; and (2) to develop a comprehensive research model by integrating relevant research constructs using meta-analysis. This study reviewed a total 173 studies from 58 published papers with 40 journals during 1991~2014 and developed a comprehensive framework with 16 research hypotheses. The results showed that (1) brand image, brand personality, brand association, and subjective norm are the important antecedents of brand attitudes; (2) brand awareness, brand trust, perceived quality, and perceived behavioral control are the important antecedents of brand loyalty; (3) brand attitude positively influences brand loyalty, which further influences brand equity; and (4) brand equity positively influences behavioral intention. This study fills in the research gap by integrating more research variables into CBBE model, particularly to include the influence of social context on consumer behavior through TPB. These results indicated that the integration between CBBE and TPB is meaningful and the comprehensive model can explain more variances than that of the individual model. Limitations, and recommendations for future research in this area are provided.
베트남인 한국어 학습자의 수여 동사 구문 오류 양상 조사와 교육 방안 모색 -언어 유형적 차이를 중심으로-

본고는 베트남인 한국어 학습자의 한국어 수여동사 구문 오류가 베트남어와 한국어의 언어유형적 차이에서 기인했는지 살펴보고 그에 따른 교육 방안을 제안하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 베트남 하노이 대학교 한국어학과 학생을 대상으로 예비조사와 본조사를 실시하였고 설문 결과와 원인 분석의 신뢰도를 높이기 위해 사후 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 그 결과 베트남인 한국어 학습자는 조사와 서술어에서 몇 가지 오류 양상을 보였는데 형태가 유사한 ‘께’와 ‘께서’를 헷갈려 하거나 무정명사에 ‘에게’나 ‘에서’ 등을 결합하는 오류를 보였다. 또한 서술어에서도 ‘주다’와 ‘주시다’, ‘드리다’의 용법을 구별하지 못하거나 보조동사 ‘-아/어 주다’를 과용하는 경향이 있었다. 이들 오류 양상을 살펴볼 때 공통적으로 학습자들이 높임법에서 오류를 많이 보이고 ‘-아/어 주다’를 수여의 의미를 나타내는 문장 요소로 생각함을 알 수 있었다. 이는 고립어로서 조사와 어미가 발달하지 않은 베트남어와 달리 한국어는 교착어로서 조사와 어미가 발달하고 높임법이 세분화되어 있기 때문이다. 또한 특정 전치사를 사용하여 수여의 의미를 표현하는 베트남과 달리 한국어는 수여의 의미를 가진 수여동사가 존재하고 수여 보조동사로서 ‘-아/어 주다’는 대부분 타동사와 결합하거나 수여동사와 결합할 경우 양태적 의미를 가진다는 것을 학습자들이 아직 인지하지 못하여 발생한 오류로 보인다. 이러한 오류를 줄이기 위해 본고는 수여동사 구문 교육의 필요성을 제시하고 교육 방안을 제안하였다. 본고의 연구는 그동안 베트남인을 대상으로 한 구문 교육이 미비했다는 점과 국내외 한국어 학습자에게 모두 적용할 수 있는 수여동사 구문 교육 방안을 제안했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the dative verbs construction of Korean of Vietnamese Korean learners are caused by the difference in the linguistic type between Vietnamese and Korean, and suggest the method of teaching dative verbs constructon. To this end, preliminary and main surveys were conducted for students of the Korean language department at Hanoi University in Vietnam, and post-interview interviews were conducted to obtain objectivity in analyzing the results and causes of the survey. As a result, Vietnamese Korean learners showed some error patterns in surveys and predicates. They confuse 'kke' and 'kkeseo', which are similar in form, or show an error of combining 'egeo' or 'eseo' with an indefinite noun. Even though, in the predicate, there was a tendency to fail to distinguish the usage of 'juda', 'jusida', and 'deurida', or to overuse '-ah/uh juda'. When examining the error patterns, it was found that learners showed a lot of errors in the honorific system and thought of ‘-ah/uh juda’ as a sentence element indicating the meaning of give. This is because that the Vietnamese language as a isloating language does not have a pronoun and a suffix. But Korean is as agglutinative language and develops a pronoun and a suffix, and has a subdivided adjective system. Also, unlike Vietnam, where a specific preposition is used to express the meaning of give, Korean has a dative verb. It seems that the error occurred because learners did not yet recognize that it has a modal meaning. In order to reduce these errors, this paper suggests the necessity of syntactic training for davive verbs construction and suggests educational methods. The study of this paper is significant in that construction education for Vietnamese has been insufficient, and that it proposes a method for teaching the dative verbs construction that can be applied to both domestic and foreign Korean learners.
