The effectiveness of Sample-Entropy was practically shown as the measure index of irregularity from time series, by the development of research to quantify complexity. This Sample-Entropy calculated from at least 100 sample points, can classify a various system which contains a deterministic chaos system and/or a stochastic system, and is strong against noise. Therefore it is applied to the wide fields such as the ecology, finance, the medical treatment, etc. In this paper, the recursive Sample-Entropy technique is proposed and it is applied to the earthquake forecast. The earthquake forecast is generally performed by using the vibration wave, however it is extremely short that time from the forecast to the occurrence. Then, in this research, I use the earth current data based on the technique called the VAN method that used an abnormal earth current that is the one of the macroscopic anomalies that the difference of time until the earthquake occurrence is long. As a result, it is confirmed that there is a possibility that the precursor of an earthquake are able to be observed in real time.

Active fault gases in Central japan have been analyzed to pursue the relationships between gas ratios in air versus those of fault gases and a role as the precursor of earthquakes. A reexamination of gas chromatographic technique in determining He/Ar rations has also been made. When the mutual separation among He, H₃and Ne is poor, accurate determination of He/Ar and Ne/Ar ratios in the case of using O₂carrier gas is impossible. Some experimenal conditions for complete separation of He, H and Ne have been examined. Gases charged mainly within fault gouges are characterized by high concentration of H₂,and gases within the fracture zone in Quarternary sediments are characterized by a high concentration of CO₂. Degassing of H₂or CO₂ may be related with fault movements. He/Ar ratios of gases which occurs as bubbles in fiowing water from fault zone at Yuya and Byakko hot springs were measured at hourly intervals. The daily variation correlates with theoretical strain. An earthquake of M=4.2 occured on January 5, 1981 at Ise Bay near the city of Nagoya. The He/Ar ratios decrease at any point. These variation might relate to the occurrence of earthquake.

<P><B>Southern Change</B></P><P>Antarctica has been mostly covered by ice since the inception of large-scale continental glaciation during the Oligocene, which profoundly altered the isotopic and mineralogical records of the sediments surrounding the continent. <B>Houben <I>et al.</I></B> (p. 341) found records of the corresponding living systems in the fossil marine dinoflagellate cysts, which revealed that a microplankton ecosystem, similar to the one that exists today, appeared simultaneously with the first major Antarctic glaciation approximately 34 million years ago.</P>
