Adaptation of block chain technology in SCM for steering managerial strategies: investigative study under Indian context

Atul Kumar Sahu,Abhijeet Katyayan,Umesh Khandey,Prashant Jangde,Anoop Kumar Sahu,Nitin Kumar Sahu 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 2023 JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS AND TRADE Vol.21 No.1

Purpose – Block chain technology (BCT) has apparent capability of handling information in digital format, which has dragged attention of the practitioners for its utility in industrial and manufacturing practices. Conversely, the managerial adoption of BCT is relatively limited, which motivated the authors to identify crucial dimensions that can persuade the acceptance of BCT from an executive perspective. Thus, the present study is aimed to conduct to understand crucial barriers under BCT for managerial implementation in supply chain management (SCM) of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Design/methodology/approach – The present study investigated evident barriers to understand implementation of BCT. A questionnaire based survey is performed to collect primary data from service and manufacturing based companies in India. Survey responses are received online and the data is analyzed in a scorecard. The scorecard embedded the scribed entries of Likert scale to determine the relative score. Findings – In present study, sixteen barriers from three categories named as technological, organizational and environmental are evaluated, where, five sub-barriers from technological domain, seven sub-barriers from organizational domain and four sub-barriers from environmental domain are evaluated. The findings of the study determined that the three factors, i.e. “complexity in setup/use”, “Security and privacy concern” and “Technological awareness” mostly affect the adaptation of BCT in SCM. Conversely, “Market dynamics”, “Scalability” and “Cost” do not influence the intention to adopt the technology. Originality/value – Only few studies have endeavored to ascertain the BCT adoption in SCM of SMEs in developing country like India. Thus, the study is filling a momentous gap of mapping BCT dimensions in the scholastic literature. The findings are expected to enable SMEs to understand important factors to be considered for adopting BCT in their curriculum. Furthermore, the study may benefit the BCT developers and suppliers to endure customized solutions based on the findings.

Extraction of copper by leaching of electrostatic precipitator dust and two step removal of arsenic from the leach liquor

        N. K. Sahu,Barsha Dash,Suchismita Sahu,I. N. Bhattacharya,T. Subbaiah 한국화학공학회 2012 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.29 No.11

The paper deals with the extraction of copper from the deposited material of the liner of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) of the copper smelter plant. These precipitates of ESP liner (ESP dust) generally contain mixed phases of copper and arsenic. An attempt is made to extract copper from ESP dust, subsequently removing arsenic from the leach liquor. The ESP dust containing paramelaconite (6CuO·Cu2O), α-domeykite (Cu3As), metadomeykite (Cu3As),enargite (Cu3AsS4) and (Cu,Fe) SO4·H2O is not a naturally occurring geological mineral; thus comparatively high acid concentration and temperature are required to break the matrix of this mixed material so as to liberate the content. The leaching efficiency of copper was 97% at 97 oC. The acid concentration of 1.5M and pulp density of 20% was found to be optimum. The removal of arsenic as ferric arsenate was carried out in two stages: increasing the pH and precipitation of arsenic by adjusting pH of the solution and by adding ferrous sulfate and hydrogen peroxide. The optimum removal of arsenic was 95% when pH was raised to 2.35 followed by precipitation. The key progression of the process is the recovery of copper from ESP dust as well as removal of arsenic from the leach liquor.

Energy-Efficient BBU Allocation for Green C-RAN

        Sahu, Bharat J. R.,Dash, Shatarupa,Saxena, Navrati,Roy, Abhishek IEEE 2017 IEEE communications letters Vol.21 No.7

<P>Cloud radio access network (C-RAN) separates the baseband processing from the radio transmissions in the base station. The baseband processing is done at the baseband unit (BBU), centrally for a huge number of remote radio head (RRH). The BBU pool works virtually and significantly to reduce power consumption in the cellular networks. Efficient coordination among these BBUs can improve network performance in terms of resource utilization and power consumption. In this letter, we propose a BBU and RRH association scheme based on graph partitioning and rejoining to minimize the power consumption due to communication overhead. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves power consumption up to 20% and reduces handover overhead up to 30% compared with the traditional approach.</P>

Parametric Resonance Characteristics of Laminated Composite Curved Shell Panels in a Hygrothermal Environment

Sahu, S.K.,Rath, M.K.,Datta, P.K.,Sahoo, R. The Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Scie 2012 International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sc Vol.13 No.3

The present study deals with the parametric resonance behaviour of laminated composite curved shell panels in a hygrothermal environment using Bolotin's approach. A simple laminated model is developed using first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) for the vibration and dynamic stability analysis of laminated composite shells subjected to hygrothermal conditions. A computer program based on the finite element method (FEM) in a MATLAB environment is developed to perform all necessary computations. Quantitative results are presented to show the effects of curvature, ply-orientations, degree of orthotropy and geometry of laminates on the parametric instability of composite curved shell panels for different temperature and moisture concentrations. The excitation frequencies of laminated composite panels decrease with the increase of temperature and moisture due to reduction of stiffness for all laminates.

      • Synonymous Codon Usage Analysis of the Mycobacteriophage Bxz1 and Its Plating Bacteria M. smegmatis: Identification of Highly and Lowly Expressed Genes of Bxz1 and the Possible Function of Its tRNA Species

Sahu, Keya,Gupta, Sanjib Kumar,Ghosh, Tapash Chandra,Sau, Subrata Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2004 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.37 No.4

The extent of codon usage in the protein coding genes of the mycobacteriophage, Bxz1, and its plating bacteria, M. smegmatis, were determined, and it was observed that the codons ending with either G and / or C were predominant in both the organisms. Multivariate statistical analysis showed that in both organisms, the genes were separated along the first major explanatory axis according to their expression levels and their genomic GC content at the synonymous third positions of the codons. The second major explanatory axis differentiates the genes according to their genome type. A comparison of the relative synonymous codon usage between 20 highly- and 20 lowly expressed genes from Bxz1 identified 21 codons, which are statistically over represented in the former group of genes. Further analysis found that the Bxz1- specific tRNA species could recognize 13 out of the 21 over represented synonymous codons, which incorporated 13 amino acid residues preferentially into the highly expressed proteins of Bxz1. In contrast, seven amino acid residues were preferentially incorporated into the lowly expressed proteins by 10 other tRNA species of Bxz1. This analysis predicts for the first time that the Bxz1-specific tRNA species modulates the optimal expression of its proteins during development.

Evaluation of correlations for prediction of onset of heat transfer deterioration for vertically upward flow of supercritical water in pipe

Sahu, Suresh,Vaidya, Abhijeet M. Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.4

Supercritical water has great potential as a coolant for nuclear reactor. Its use will lead to higher thermal efficiency of Rankine cycle. However, in certain conditions heat transfer may get deteriorated which may lead to undesirable high clad surface temperature. It is necessary to estimate the operating conditions in which heat transfer deterioration (HTD) will take place, so as to establish thermal margins for safe reactor operation. In the present work, the heat flux corresponding to onset of HTD for vertically upward flow of supercritical water in a pipe is obtained over a wide range of system parameters, namely pressure, mass flux, and pipe diameter. This is done by performing large number of simulations using an in-house CFD code, which is especially developed and validated for this purpose. The identification of HTD is based on observance of one or more peak/s in the computed wall temperature profile. The existing correlations for predicting the onset of HTD are compared against the results obtained by present simulations as well as available sets of experimental data. It is found that the prediction accuracy of the correlation proposed by Dongliang et al. is best among the existing correlations.

      • Upgrading of vacuum residue in batch type reactor using Ni-Mo supported on goethite catalyst

Sahu, R.,Song, B.J.,Jeon, Y.P.,Lee, C.W. Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemi 2016 Journal of industrial and engineering chemistry Vol.35 No.-

<P>It is imperative to develop an efficient catalyst to convert vacuum residue (VR) into low boiling point liquid products via an environmentally benign pathway. Ni-Mo bimetal was impregnated on goethite supports and well characterized using various analytical techniques. VR hydrocracking catalytic activities were investigated in a batch reactor. The 1%Ni-4.5%Mo/Goethite catalyst showed a high yield of low boiling point liquid products, 69.8%, with 80% VR conversion at 420 degrees C in the presence of 70 bar initial hydrogen pressure in 3 h. In these liquid products, 8.6% of naphtha, 51.4% of middle distillate, 9.8% of vacuum gas oil (VGO) with 28.1% of saturates, 62.5% of aromatics, 8.4% of resins and >1% of asphaltenes were confirmed by TGA and SARA analysis, respectively. The experimental findings indicated that the formation of low boiling point liquid products depends on physical parameters and chemical composition of the catalyst. This paper describes the synthesis of the supported catalysts, influences of the active metal composition, metal/support interaction, and process parameters for hydrocracking of VR into high value, low boiling point liquid products.
