Determinants of the Small and Medium Enterprises Progress: A Case Study of SME Entrepreneurs in Manado, Indonesia

        Rudy PRAMONO,L. W. SONDAKH,Innocentius BERNARTO,Juliana JULIANA,Agus PURWANTO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.1

The purpose of this study is to descriptively reveal the demographic and business profile and personal-entrepreneurial characteristics in Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi, and secondly to associate these profiles and characters to their business progress. A sample size of 21 respondents was drawn - selected from those who warmly welcomed the interviewers for an open-ended structured questionnaire. SPSS 24 has been employed to descriptively reveal the sample distribution according to demographic factors and business entities and to determine the dominant factors affecting the progress of the business by testing the hypothesis on the association of variables under study using specified statistical analytical tools, such as regression analysis, especially stepwise regression formula, between specified dependent variables and independent variables and /or between all variables. The stepwise regression analysis has enabled the researcher to determine which variables are the most important reflecting the personal characteristics theorized as “locus of control”: self-efficacy, needs for achievement, personal traits, and barriers to business progress The analysis reveals that the progress of business does have an association and is dependent on the source of capital and education, needs for achievement and locus of control.

The Integration of Social Media to the Theory of Planned Behavior: A Case Study in Indonesia

Sabrina O,SIHOMBING,Rudy PRAMONO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.5

Leader and leadership are one of the important aspects in the life of a country. This study aims to predict the intention of young voters to vote for state leader elections by expanding the theory of planned behavior to the Indonesian context. Apart from the importance of the presidential election, research rarely uses the theory of planned behavior, and to the best of researchers’ knowledge, there are no studies that have applied the theory of planned behavior to predict the intention to vote for the president. Therefore, this study is an attempt to fill that gap. Two hundred questionnaires were distributed using non-probability purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach. The results showed that attitude and behavior control were positively related to voters’ intention to elect presidential candidates. Furthermore, information from social media also has a positive relationship with the attitude of choosing presidential candidates. However, the results also show that subjective norms do not have a significant relationship with voters’ intention. This study contributes knowledge to researchers, practitioners, and policymakers about the factors that influence youth intention to vote in Indonesia, namely, attitudes, perceived behavior control, and information from social media.

With task-oriented synergistic cooperation goal-oriented synergistic interaction as a mediating variable, the goal objective of this study was to fill the research gap between transformational leadership influence and organizational innovation. Data was collected through online electronic questionnaires using Likert Scales. This study used a census method, where the sample was all general insurance companies in Indonesia; hence, it can represent the general insurance industry. It involved 72 respondents, representing 72 general insurance companies that were actively operating in Indonesia in 2021. This research results offered crucial implications about the organizational interaction in the emerging market of the insurance industry, such as Indonesia. MULYONO, Hardi,HADIAN, Arief,PURBA, Nelvitia,PRAMONO, Rudy Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.10

This study analyzes the effect of quality of services provided to the students' in relation to their satisfaction and loyalty. Respondents in this study were seventh semester students of Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah, the total number of students was 312. Data analysis techniques in this study used was SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) using the SmartPLS program. The results showed that students' satisfaction significantly mediated the correlation between academics and students' loyalty, between non-academic and students' loyalty, between reputation and students' loyalty, and between campus access and students' loyalty; on the other hand, students' satisfaction was not significant in mediating the correlation between program issues and students' loyalty. The findings suggest that it is necessary to improve the quality of lecturers to improve students' academic abilities and communication skills. As far as non-academic aspects are concerned, conducting training and development efforts and increasing awareness programs for administrative staff is important. For the reputation aspect, to carry out several marketing campaigns which predict to have an effect upon students in building positive perceptions of campus has to be executed as well. Meanwhile for access aspect, it should be made certain that every student can have direct access to staff employees, and it is necessary to improve dimensions which can increase students' satisfaction so that students are convinced of their choice of campus and then they are likely to recommend their chosen university and spread positive things about their institutions.

WANASIDA, Albert Surya,BERNARTO, Innocentius,SUDIBJO, Niko,PRAMONO, Rudy Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2

This study aims to understand the effect of millennial transformational leadership (MTL) on organizational performance in Indonesian Fishery startups. The population of this study included select fishery startups in Indonesia based on the data released by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia and Digital Fishery Network. This study used the statistical method of PLS-SEM to analyze the data. The findings show that the MTL has no direct positive relationship with organizational performance; MTL has a direct positive relationship with organizational agility; MTL has a direct positive relationship with IT capability; IT capability has a direct positive relationship with organizational agility; organizational agility has a direct positive relationship with organizational performance in fishery startups in Indonesia during this pandemic era. It is suggested that future researches use covariance-based-structural equation modeling which is able to test the research model's feasibility. Roles of mediating variables in addition to the main variables-for example, organizational agility as a mediating variable on the relationship between MTL and organizational performance - are also suggested to be examined. In spite of the limitations, the model developed is still interesting to investigate and is expected to enhance the literature on transformational leadership.

Access to incumbents of large family businesses that are conglomerates is scant. The preceding survey research was conducted to sensitize with the intricacy of the intergenerational succession process in large family businesses before entailing interpretative phenomenology analysis of qualitative data from interviews, observations, and field notes by approaching family members in five conglomerate groups that have major impacts on the economy. The findings explicate the incumbents’ preferred criteria in choosing their successors as well as their perceived concerns revolving around the appointment. Additionally, the incumbents’ succession approaches such as apprentice learning by successors, adaptability to external forces by successors, nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit in successors, governance establishment in the firms, business interest stimulation in successors, role modeling by incumbents, and collaboration between family and key non-family members are elicited during the intergenerational succession process. This study concluded with noteworthy implications for incumbents and successors in large family businesses, especially providing explicit criteria and strategies to appoint suitable successors, and suggesting potential avenues for future research.
