Strawberry, an important fruit crop, is susceptible to a large number of pathogens that reduce fruit quality and productivity. In this study, the effect of a biostimulant prepared from Ascophyllum nodosum extract (ANE) (0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3%) was evaluated on powdery mildew progression under greenhouse and field conditions. In the greenhouse, application of 0.2% ANE showed maximum reduction in powdery mildew progression as compared to the control. Forty-eight hour post-inoculation, foliar spray of 0.2% ANE reduced spore germination by 75%. Strawberry leaves sprayed with ANE showed higher total phenolic and flavonoid content in response to powdery mildew infection. Furthermore, application of ANE elicited defense response in strawberry plants by induction of defense-related enzymes, such as phenylalanine ammonia lyase, polyphenol oxidase, and peroxidase activity. In field conditions, foliar spray of 0.2% ANE showed a reduction of 37.2% of natural incidence of powdery mildew infection as compared to the control. ANE sprayed plant also reduces the severity of powdery mildew infection under natural conditions. These results indicate that application of ANE induces the strawberry plant’s active defense against powdery mildew infection by induction of secondary metabolism and regulating the activities of defense-related enzymes.

Cryptotanshinone, tanshinone I and tanshinone IIA are three major components in the extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza with pharmacological significance. However, their effective utilization is limited due to poor water solubility and bioavailability. Solid dispersion (SD) of the extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza was prepared to enhance solubility and dissolution of the three major components. Various carriers were screened for SD preparation by conventional solvent method. Dissolution of the components from selected SD systems was compared with commercial tablets of the extract from Salvia miltiorrhiza. The solubility of three components viz., cryptotanshinone, tanshinone I and tanshinone IIA, after forming SD with either of povidone K-30 (PVP K-30) or poloxamer 407, exhibited enhanced solubility in pH 6.8 buffer. Dissolution test revealed that the amount of three components released was higher from SD tablets as compared to the commercial tablets. Pharmacokinetic profile was evaluated using cryptotanshinone as a representative compound. AUC of cryptotanshinone was significantly increased when administered as a solid dispersion.
Impacts of Financial Inclusion on Sustainable Development in India
SINGH, Saumya,GAUTAM, Rahul Singh,AGARWAL, Bhakti,PUSHP, Aman,BARGE, Prashant,RASTOGI, Shailesh Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.10
The ultimate motive of the paper is to establish whether financial inclusion (FI) has a consequential impact on the Sustainable Development (SD) of India. This study uses one model for the assessment of the influence of FI through the Co-Operative bank network on SD. This is purposely done to analyze the absolute impact of the role of the Co-Operative bank network in the said context. The sample encompasses data taken from 28 states and 3 Union Territories for two years (FY2018-FY2020). Assessment of data for the remaining Union Territories is not undertaken for the reason of the non-availability of data for other Union Territories. This study uses Panel Data Analysis (PDA) to establish the nexus of the relation between the said variables. Results of this study reveal elevated levels of SD resultant of increased FI thereby indicating a positive and significant relationship between the said variables. Unlike previous studies, this study gives India-specific significant findings, which suggests policy formulation for increasing the numbers and improving the governance of Co-Operative bank networks for SD. Co-Operative bank network as a proxy despite having high weighted significance in FI has not been incorporated in any recent study as per the last updated knowledge of authors.
