Service Distribution Strategy on Business Performance of Padang Restaurants in North Jakarta

        Michael CHRISTIAN,Kevin HARIS,Eko Retno INDRIYARTI,Suryo WIBOWO,Sunarno SUNARNO 한국유통과학회 2021 유통과학연구 Vol.19 No.12

Purpose: This study aims to measure whether the business performance of Padang restaurants in North Jakarta is primarily affected by service distribution strategy and other factors, specifically the local-based organizational culture and entrepreneurial orientation. Research design, data and methodology: This quantitative research has used Structural Model-Partial Least Square (PLS-SEM) with SMART PLS 3.0 as the analytical tool. The study’s sample focus is the owner or person in charge of the Padang restaurant business in North Jakarta. Data has been collected using a questionnaire instrument with a Likert scale scale (‘1–strongly disagree’ to ‘5–strongly agree’). A total of 86 samples with a random technique were obtained from three areas in North Jakarta: Kelapa Gading, Pademangan, and Penjaringan. Results: Interestingly, this research finds that service distribution strategy does not affect business performance, either directly or indirectly. Business performance in this study is affected by entrepreneurial orientation. In additional results, the local organizational culture significantly affects the entrepreneurial orientation, but does not affect the business performance in terms of management process. Conclusions: This study provides practical implications for restaurant businesses regarding the use of local cultural concepts to consider strategies for survival in today’s challenging times while continuing operations during limitations.

Generation Z in Jakarta’s Attitude Towards COVID-19 Ad Distribution on YouTube

        Michael CHRISTIAN,Ratlan PARDEDE,Eko Retno INDRIYARTI 한국유통과학회 2022 유통과학연구 Vol.20 No.3

Purpose: This study aims to measure the attitudes of Generation Z in Jakarta towards advertisements containing COVID-19 information. Research design, data and methodology: This study is a quantitative method with partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with SMART PLS as an analytical tool. The sample size is 216 participants was obtained randomly through a questionnaire distributed online. This study consisted of exogenous variables (advertising content, value, irritation, and economic benefits), endogenous variables (attitudes towards advertising), and some moderating roles. Results: The results of thi study explain that this generation’s attitude towards advertising is affected by the content and value aspects embedded in advertisements. Value can be formed from creativity in making advertising content as interesting and informative as possible. Interestingly, this study also found that the irritation aspect and economic benefits had no effect on the audience’s attitude towards the advertisement. Neither the irritating aspect of advertising nor the economic value that is formed acts as a moderator of the content and the value of the ad. Conclusions: The ongoing pandemic and periodic adjustments to government policies regarding COVID-19, these results can be compared with other advertisements for future studies, especially those using the same variables as this study.

Urinary Biomarkers may Complement the Cleveland Score for Prediction of Adverse Kidney Events After Cardiac Surgery: A Pilot Study

        Christian Albert,Michael Haase,Annemarie Albert,Siegfried Kropf,Rinaldo Bellomo,Sabine Westphal,Mark Westerman,Rüdiger Christian Braun-Dullaeus,Anja Haase-Fielitz 대한진단검사의학회 2020 Annals of Laboratory Medicine Vol.40 No.2

Background: The ability of urinary biomarkers to complement established clinical risk prediction models for postoperative adverse kidney events is unclear. We assessed the effect of urinary biomarkers linked to suspected pathogenesis of cardiac surgery-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) on the performance of the Cleveland Score, a risk assessment model for postoperative adverse kidney events. Methods: This pilot study included 100 patients who underwent open-heart surgery. We determined improvements to the Cleveland Score when adding urinary biomarkers measured using clinical laboratory platforms (neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin [NGAL], interleukin-6) and those in the preclinical stage (hepcidin-25, midkine, alpha-1 microglobulin), all sampled immediately post-surgery. The primary endpoint was major adverse kidney events (MAKE), and the secondary endpoint was AKI. We performed ROC curve analysis, assessed baseline model performance (odds ratios [OR], 95% CI), and carried out statistical reclassification analyses to assess model improvement. Results: NGAL (OR [95% CI] per 20 concentration-units wherever applicable): (1.07 [1.01–1.14]), Interleukin-6 (1.51 [1.01–2.26]), midkine (1.01 [1.00–1.02]), 1-hepcidin-25 (1.08 [1.00–1.17]), and NGAL/hepcidin-ratio (2.91 [1.30–6.49]) were independent predictors of MAKE and AKI (1.38 [1.03–1.85], 1.08 [1.01–1.15], 1.01 [1.00–1.02], 1.09 [1.01–1.18], and 3.45 [1.54–7.72]). Category-free net reclassification improvement identified interleukin-6 as a model-improving biomarker for MAKE and NGAL for AKI. However, only NGAL/hepcidin-25 improved model performance for event- and event-free patients for MAKE and AKI. Conclusions: NGAL and interleukin-6 measured immediately post cardiac surgery may complement the Cleveland Score. The com

Business Performance Determinants of Salted Fish Distribution in Kapuk During the COVID-19

        Michael CHRISTIAN,Dewi DEWI,Glisina Dwinoor REMBULAN,Eko Retno INDRIYARTI,Suryo WIBOWO,Yustinus YUNIARTO 한국유통과학회 2021 유통과학연구 Vol.19 No.6

Purpose: This study aims to measure whether market orientation, entrepreneurial orientation, and marketing capabilities affected the business performance of salted fish distribution in Kapuk warehouse, West Jakarta at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. This prolonged and difficult pandemic has had an impact on the business of selling salted fish, challenging organisations’ ability to maintain business performance. Research design, data and methodology: This study uses a PLS-SEM model approach using Smart PLS 3.0 and a questionnaire as the instruments. The conditions during the observation include 77 distributors who chose to keep doing business, and the research sample were measured by the number of distributors (business actors or people in charge). In this study, the variables of marketing capabilities, market orientation, and entrepreneurial orientation were used to analyse business performance. Results: Interestingly, the results of the study succeeded in explaining that during a pandemic market, both entrepreneurial orientation and marketing ability affected current business performance, although marketing ability remains an inconsistent mediator. Conclusions: This result serves as a reminder that surviving is the priority which must be focused on now, rather than crafting strategies to excel in competition that consume valuable effort and resources.

Biomarker-Guided Risk Assessment for Acute Kidney Injury: Time for Clinical Implementation?

        Albert Christian,Haase Michael,Albert Annemarie,Zapf Antonia,Braun-Dullaeus Rüdiger Christian,Haase-Fielitz Anja 대한진단검사의학회 2021 Annals of Laboratory Medicine Vol.41 No.1

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious complication in hospitalized patients, which continues to pose a clinical challenge for treating physicians. The most recent Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes practice guidelines for AKI have restated the importance of earliest possible detection of AKI and adjusting treatment accordingly. Since the emergence of initial studies examining the use of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and cycle arrest biomarkers, tissue inhibitor metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor-binding protein (IGFBP7), for early diagnosis of AKI, a vast number of studies have investigated the accuracy and additional clinical benefits of these biomarkers. As proposed by the Acute Dialysis Quality Initiative, new AKI diagnostic criteria should equally utilize glomerular function and tubular injury markers for AKI diagnosis. In addition to refining our capabilities in kidney risk prediction with kidney injury biomarkers, structural disorder phenotypes referred to as “preclinical-” and “subclinical AKI” have been described and are increasingly recognized. Additionally, positive biomarker test findings were found to provide prognostic information regardless of an acute decline in renal function (positive serum creatinine criteria). We summarize and discuss the recent findings focusing on two of the most promising and clinically available kidney injury biomarkers, NGAL and cell cycle arrest markers, in the context of AKI phenotypes. Finally, we draw conclusions regarding the clinical implications for kidney risk prediction.

Digital Bank Channel Distribution: Predictors of Usage Attitudes in Jakarta’s Gen Z

Eko Retno INDRIYARTI(Eko Retno INDRIYARTI ),Michael CHRISTIAN(Michael CHRISTIAN ),Henilia YULITA(Henilia YULITA ),Titik ARYATI(Titik ARYATI ),Regina Jansen ARSJAH(Regina Jansen ARSJAH ) 한국유통과학회 2023 유통과학연구 Vol.21 No.2

Purpose: The goal of this study is to examine what makes young people more likely to use digital banking. This is because digital banking services and their distribution channels are technologically advanced, which can be a double-edged sword between ease of use and resistance to technology. Research design, data and methodology: This study included 320 participants from generation Z in Jakarta who use digital bank and used a quantitative method with PLS-SEM. Results: This study explains how, in addition to usefulness, costs, and self-efficacy, resistance to technology has a direct effect on usage attitudes. Meanwhile, if the attitude of use is preceded by aspects of usefulness, self-efficacy, and awareness, resistance to technology will be felt indirectly. Conclusions: This demonstrated that most discussed factors, such as Ease-of-Use and security of use, are important for Generation Z users but no longer a major consideration in accepting digital banking. Aside from being more open to the use of technology in digital banks, Generation Z also desires a balance of technology services and benefits. The limitations of this study are that it excludes social variables, uses certain generations, and limits the research area to one large city, which can be expanded in future studies.

Characterizing Atypical BCL6 Signal Patterns Detected by Digital Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) Analysis

        Michael Liew,Leslie R. Rowe,Phillipe Szankasi,Christian N. Paxton,Todd Kelley,Reha M. Toydemir,Mohamed E. Salama 대한진단검사의학회 2018 Annals of Laboratory Medicine Vol.38 No.6

The BCL6 gene encodes a 706-amino acid sequence-specific repressor transcription factor [1]. BCL6 has been identified as commonly rearranged in 20–40% of diffuse large B cell lymphomas (DLBCL) [2, 3]. BCL6 can be rearranged with the immunoglobulin (Ig) gene loci or non-Ig gene partners [2]. Break-apart (BAP) FISH probes are widely used for clinical testing of genes with multiple translocation partners [4]. The expected signal pattern of a rearranged sample using a BAP FISH probe is a single red and single green signal for derivative chromosomes and a single fusion signal for the normal homolog (1F/1R/1G). However, because of the complexity of genomic changes that can occur in cancer, signal patterns other than 1F/1R/1G, that is, atypical or unusual signal patterns, are also observed [5]. We describe the validation of a locus specific identifier (LSI)-BCL6 FISH assay using a digital analysis system, as well as our experience with unusual signal patterns observed using this assay. We demonstrate that unusual FISH signal patterns can be associated with copy number alterations in addition to rearrangements involving the BCL6 locus at 3q27
