EIT Image Reconstruction Using Iterative TV Regularized PD-IPM Algorithm
Md. Rabiul Islam 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.2
Biological tissues have electrical conductivity and permittivity properties which depend on tissue composition, structure and health status. Bioelectrical properties can be utilized for non invasive disease diagnosis. Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is a method for reconstructing the image of distribution of electrical conductivity and permittivity inside a volume from measurements made at the surface of the volume. EIT image reconstruction is an ill-posed problem that requires a priori information called regularization. The Total Variation (TV) regularization is often used in solving EIT inverse problem. In this paper, simulation has been carried out in noise free and noisy cases and TV regularized iterative Primal Dual Interior Point Method (PD-IPM) has been used to reconstruct the difference conductivity image.

Screening of wheat genotypes as salt tolerance through seed germination and early seedling growth is crucial for their evaluation. Seeds of 20 wheat genotypes were germinated in Petri dishes on a sand bed irrigated with saline (15 dS m -1 ) and control solutions for 10 days and also tested at different salinity levels (control, 4, 6, 8, and 10 dS m -1 ) which were artificially developed in the soil for 30 days. At 10 days, germination percentage, rate of germination, co-efficient of germination, germination vigor index, shoot length, root length, and seedling dry weight were found to be affected due to salinity. Salt tolerance index (STI) for seedling dry weight maintained a significant positive correlation with rate of germination, germination vigor index, shoot length, and root length, which indicates that these parameters could be used as selection criteria for screening wheat genotypes against salt stress. Significant differences in shoot length, root length, and seedling dry weight in 30-day-old seedlings were observed among selected wheat genotypes as well. From the overall observation of germination characters and early seedling growth, it was concluded that the wheat genotypes including Gourab, Shatabdi, Bijoy, Prodip, BARI Gom 26, BAW 1186, and BAW 1189 showed better salt tolerance as compared to others.
The value of insect pollination to yield of oilseed rape (Brassica rapa) in Bangladesh
Islam Rabiul,Howlett Brad G.,Chapman Hazel,Haque Md. Azizul,Ahmad Masum 한국응용곤충학회 2022 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.25 No.1
Brassica rapa L., is a crop grown globally and studies have indicated that insect pollination can improve yields. However, the importance of insect pollination in this crop depends on cultivar reproductive biology, insect pollinator species and their abundances. In Bangladesh, the acreage of B. rapa for oilseed production has been expanding, but little is known about whether insects contribute to yield improvements. Using the commonly grown variety Tori-7, we found that plants with inflorescences left exposed to flower visiting insects (body width > 1.5 mm) had a 30.8% greater seed yield compared to those where insect flower visitors were excluded. Of 794 insect flower visiting individuals recorded from observation and trapping surveys conducted across four separate fields, Apis bees (four spp.) were the most abundant (66.1%), followed by flies Musca domestica (14.7%), Sepsis fulgens (6.3%) and hoverflies (3.0%; 3 spp; Syrphidae). Other flower visitors included ants, wasps, beetles, butterflies and moths. For the cultivar assessed, we calculated the economic value of oilseed rape was $US 87.5 million per annum in Bangladesh, of which the economic value of insect pollination was $US 26.92 million per annum. Thus, one in every four dollars earned by our Bangladeshi growers resulted from insect crop pollination. This demonstrates to growers the need to promote and protect insect pollination to optimize their economic returns.

Due to the variable nature of renewable energy resources and power demand by consumers, it is difficult to operate a power system installed with only one type of renewable energy resource. Grid-based renewable generation may be the only solution to overcome this problem. The conventional approach based on a low-voltage converter with power frequency transformer is commonly employed for grid connection of offshore renewable energy systems. Because of the heavy weight and large size of the transformer, the system can be expensive and complex in terms of installation and maintenance. In this paper, an 11-kV series connected H-bridge (SCHB) multilevel voltage source converter (VSC) is proposed to achieve a compact and light direct grid connection of renewable energy systems. This paper presents the design, simulation and analysis of a five level (5L)-SCHB and an eleven level (11L)-SCHB VSC for 11-kV grid-based renewable energy systems. The performance, cost, modulation scheme and harmonic spectra of the converter are analyzed.

Purpose: This study mainly aims to investigate the connection between job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior of bank employee. Another objective of this study is to check out the mediating impact of perceived organizational politics of bank personnel on the connection between their job happiness and citizenship behavior. Research design, data and methodology: Snowball sampling is utilized in this study, which is done among bank personnel at different public and private banks across north-eastern region of Bangladesh as well as information is accumulated through the use of a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. IBM SPSS v22, Andrew F. Hayes process macro v3.5 and SmartPLS 3 are used to complete descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The study results explore that employees’ political perception has a negative influence on organizational citizenship behavior where bank employees’ job happiness has a positive impact on structural citizenship manners and negative impact on perceived organizational politics. Surprisingly, perceptions of organizational politics were found to have an insignificant mediating effect on the connection between job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. Conclusions: The present study reveals that satisfied bank personnel shows positive and constructive actions toward their organization where their political perception has an insignificant mediation.

This study evaluated the antidiarrheal, analgesic, and anthelmintic activities of honey samples from the Sundarbans mangrove forest of Bangladesh. Composite raw honey (RH), and its diethyl ether (DEH), ethanol (ETH), methanol (MEH), and distilled water (DWH) fractions were investigated. RH and its fractions strongly inhibited castor oil-induced diarrheal episodes in mice at a concentration of 250 mg/kg body weight (b.w.) (P<0.05). At this concentration, RH, DEH, ETH, MEH, and DWH showed inhibitory activity on diarrheal episodes at 43.8, 47.4, 29.8, 12.3, and 38.5%, respectively, whereas for the inhibitory activity for the positive control (PC, 3 mg loperamide/kg b.w.) was 47.4%. Similarly, DEH (250 mg/kg b.w.) showed strongest inhibition (63.5%) of acetic acid-induced writhing in mice, followed by RH (55.7%), ETH (46.2%), MEH (37.6%), and DWH (32.9%). In a hot plate test, mice treated with DEH at a concentration 250 mg/kg b.w. showed the greatest increase in response time, followed by treatment with RH. RH was further used in an anthelmintic test, where it showed a strong dose-dependent reduction in both the paralysis time and the time until death of the parasite, Paramphistomum cervi. Honeys in the Sundarbans could therefore be of great use as nutraceuticals.
