Three-Phase PFC Rectifier by Means of Three Single-Phase Passive PFC Units

This study deals with a three-phase diode rectifier which offers very fine PFC nature. The rectifier consists of three units of single-phase PFC diode rectifier with L-C network on the ac input side. Most of all practically available combinations of inductance and capacitance of the L-C network have been investigated through simulations and useful combinations and performance of the new rectifier are obtained and described in this paper. According to the simulation studies, the Total-Power-Factor of the input is more than 99 [%] and Total-Harmonic-Distortion of input current is approximately 3 [%]. It is shown in this paper that the new rectifier is practically advantageous than ordinary rectifier, e.g., three-phase bridge diode rectifier, and even well comparable to double three-phase bridge diode rectifier.

Effects of the geometry of a jet engine fuel injector with wall impingement on the atomization and combustion characteristics are investigated. The atomization characteristics were evaluated by mean droplet size (SMD) obtained by a light scattering technique (LDSA) under atmospheric condition. Combination of pressure atomization with air-blasting gives remarkable improvement of the atomization. The effect of droplet size and spray dispersion on the combustion characteristics are also investigated experimentally. Results showed that SMD decreased with the decrease in the nozzle diameter D. Spray dispersion became better with the decrease in the D. EI(NOx) decreased with the decrease in the D. Spray dispersion became worse with the decrease in N. EI(NOx) decreased with the increase in N. The relationship between the rate of decrease in SMD and the rate of decrease in EI(NOx) was defined and was verified to be useful. According to the result of the effect of nozzle number N on the atomization and combustion characteristics, it is shown that the dispersion is more important than the atomization.

Background/Aims: Sclerotherapy with aluminum potassium sulfate and tannic acid (ALTA) has a potent effect on internalhemorrhoids. In this retrospective study, we compared the effects of endoscopic ALTA therapy and standard ALTA therapy. Methods: We investigated patients who underwent treatment for internal hemorrhoids at our institution between 2014 and 2016. Theywere divided into a standard ALTA group (n=33, treated using proctoscopy) and an endoscopic ALTA group (n=48). We compared theclinical findings between the 2 groups. Results: There were no intergroup differences in background factors. The mean ALTA dose was 21.9±7.2 mL and 17.8±3.4 mL inthe standard and endoscopic ALTA groups, respectively (p<0.01). Adverse events occurred in 4 patients (12.1%) from the standardALTA group and 6 patients (12.5%) from the endoscopic ALTA group. In both groups, the patients reported good satisfaction withthe therapeutic effect at 1 month after the procedure. Hemorrhoids recurred in 2 patients (6.3%) from the standard ALTA group and 4patients (8.3%) from the endoscopic ALTA group. Conclusions: Endoscopic ALTA sclerotherapy is equivalent to standard ALTA therapy in terms of efficacy, adverse events, andrecurrence. Therefore, it is a useful non-surgical option for patients with internal hemorrhoids who prefer a less invasive treatment.
