      • Synapsins differentially control dopamine and serotonin release.

        Kile, Brian M,Guillot, Thomas S,Venton, B Jill,Wetsel, William C,Augustine, George J,Wightman, R Mark The Society 2010 The Journal of neuroscience Vol.30 No.29

<P>Synapsins are a family of synaptic vesicle proteins that are important for neurotransmitter release. Here we have used triple knock-out (TKO) mice lacking all three synapsin genes to determine the roles of synapsins in the release of two monoamine neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin. Serotonin release evoked by electrical stimulation was identical in substantia nigra pars reticulata slices prepared from TKO and wild-type mice. In contrast, release of dopamine in response to electrical stimulation was approximately doubled in striatum of TKO mice, both in vivo and in striatal slices, in comparison to wild-type controls. This was due to loss of synapsin III, because deletion of synapsin III alone was sufficient to increase dopamine release. Deletion of synapsins also increased the sensitivity of dopamine release to extracellular calcium ions. Although cocaine did not affect the release of serotonin from nigral tissue, this drug did enhance dopamine release. Cocaine-induced facilitation of dopamine release was a function of external calcium, an effect that was reduced in TKO mice. We conclude that synapsins play different roles in the control of release of dopamine and serotonin, with release of dopamine being negatively regulated by synapsins, specifically synapsin III, while serotonin release appears to be relatively independent of synapsins. These results provide further support for the concept that synapsin function in presynaptic terminals varies according to the neurotransmitter being released.</P>

        Lidocaine Intoxication: Two Fatal Cases

        Sang-KiLee,Soo-YeunLee,Sang-WhanIn,Hwa-KyungChoi,Mi-AeLim,Kyu-HyuckChung,Hee-SunChung 대한약학회 2003 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.26 No.4

We present two fatal cases, a 41-year-old male (case 1) and his 8-year-old daughter (case 2), resulting from acute lidocaine poisoning. Lidocaine was quantified by gas chromatography (GC) analysis using nitrogen-phosphorus detection. The lidocaine concentrations of cases 1 and 2 were: liver, 27.7 mg/g and 24.9 mg/g; spleen, 70.1 mg/g and 29.9 mg/g; and gastric contents, 23.6 mg/g and 42.8 mg/g, respectively.

Purification and characterization of cold active lipase from psychrotrophic Aeromonas sp. LPB 3

        Han-KiLee,Min-JungAhn,Sung-HoKwak,Won-HoSong,Byeong-ChulJeong 한국미생물학회 2003 The journal of microbiology Vol.41 No.1

A lipase from Aeromonas sp. LPB 4, a psychrotophile isolated from a sea sediment was purified and characterized. The lipase was purified 53.5 fold to a homogeneous state by acetone precipitation and QAE sephadex column chromatography and its molecular weight was determined to be 50 kDa by SDS-PAGE. The enzyme exhibited maximum activity at 10oC and was stable at temperatures lower than 50oC. This lipase favored substrates containing medium carbon chain of acyl group, while too low and high carbon chain decreased its activity. The lipolytic activity of purified lipase was slightly increased by the addition of 0.1% detergent, but decreased by 1% of detergent. Butanol severely decreased the lipase activity while methanol increased the activity about 15%.

On the Classification of Ritual Terminology in the Nanai Language

        ( Antonina Sergeevna Kile ) 한국알타이학회 2011 알타이학보 Vol.0 No.21

The Khabarovsky and the Primorsky krai and the Sakhalinskaya oblast of the Russian Federation are home to the Nanai low-number indigenous people (totaling 12,160 in 2002) whose language is assigned to the southern Manchu-Tungus branch of the Altaic family of languages. The scholars study the Nanai ceremonial and religious concepts, their perception of the world and philosophy of life related to the ethnic vocabulary and special terminology. The author attempts at classifying the ritual terminology of baby delivery, wedding, and funeral rites, presents academic interpretations of individual terms, briefly explains their lexical meaning, and ways of forming the Nanai ritual word stock. Certain terms are used in spoken Nanai with no reference to a specific rite but are still related to the latter. Words in general use at times acquire a general figurative and symbolic meaning as ritual terms. The classification presents 4 groups of ritual terms: Ritual terms proper (in performing a specific rite); Ritual terms proper (with their lexical meaning unchanged, in several rites); Ritual terms in spoken speech (with no reference to a specific rite); Words and word combinations in general use (which have acquired a figurative and symbolic meaning and are used as ritual terms). The Nanai ritual terminology with regard to changes in social life is an invaluable source for studies of spiritual and material culture of the ethnos, its ethnogeny, historical development and vocabulary (etymology, phonetics, word- and form-formation), etc. The ritual terminology in the Nanai vocabulary is still to become the subject-matter of in-depth study.

An energy-related products compliant eco-design method with durability-embedded economic and environmental assessments

Farrell Samuel Kiling,신승준,Min-Kyu Lee,Prita Meilanitasari 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.8 No.2

Assessing the environmental impacts of product systems has become critical, with emphasis on reducing carbon dioxide emissions in line with the new climate change regime. Accordingly, environmental regulations have been newly issued or have stronger requirements for inducing more energy-efficient and environmentally-conscious product development. Therefore, product developers in new product development are being forced to consider various and heterogeneous design performance and are encountering more difficulty and chaos when selecting the best product design among design candidates. The relevant studies have contributed to providing tools and techniques for increasing the environmental soundness of the product; however, they do not holistically accommodate the quantification of functional and economic metrics, nor do they incorporate the compliance with recent environmental legislations. The present work proposes an environmentally-conscious design method that integrates functional, economic, and environmental assessments with the compliance of the energy-related products (ErP) legislation. This method provides analytical capabilities including: (1) a functional assessment to derive the durability of the product to be embedded for practical measurement in the following assessments, (2) a compliance check to ensure that energy-related products fulfill the ErP directive enacted by the European Union, (3) an economic assessment to calculate the total cost during the product lifecycle by using the life cycle cost concept, and (4) an environmental assessment to quantify the environmental loads of the product by using a simplified life cycle assessment. The present work also includes a case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method; to this end, two different electronic vacuum cleaners are compared. The results of the present work help product developers use life cycle design thinking for determining their design parameters by checking their compliance with the ErP legislation and assessing economic and environmental metrics with a mechanical analysis of the durability of product systems

코드 스위칭과 통사이론에 대한 비판적 고찰

        이만기 ( Man KiLee ) 한국스페인어문학회 2010 스페인어문학 Vol.0 No.55

In this paper, Ihave reexamined the previous syntactic theoretical studies on intrasentential code switching with special reference to Spanish and English code switching among hispanic americans in the US. First, Ihave showed Timm(1975)`s five constraints on Spanish/English code switching, which seems to be a descriptive ones. Second, Ihave critically reconsidered some previous syntactic theory-based studies on code switching such as Poplack(1980)`s Equivalence Constraint, Woolford(1983)`s highly Phrase Structureoriented approach, DiSciullo, Muysken and Singh(1986)`s Government Constraint, Mahootian(1993)`s Head Principle, Belazi, Rubin and Toribio(1994)`s Functional Head Constraint, Chan(2008)`s Lexical/ Functional category distinction and finally MacSwan(1999)`s Minimalist Approach to code switching. After the discussion of all of these theoretical approach to code switching, Ihave reexamined Lee(2009a)`s Head Constraint on code switching. In this paper, Ihave reconsidered some unexplained code switched data between Spanish and English, trying to resolve them in terms of syntactic theory. Ihave concluded this paper pointing out that the theory internal research on code switching have actually become one of our mayor linguistic areas and this type of study will contribute to the prosperity of generative grammar. The minimal code switching-specific appartus would be assumed as follows: Nothing constrains code switching apart from the requirements of the mixed grammars.

The traditions and rituals of the Nanai people

        ( Antonina Sergeevna Kile ) 한국알타이학회 2015 알타이학보 Vol.0 No.25

These speech materials consist of four topics about the traditional culture of the Nanai people: childhood educations and child rearing rituals, birth rituals, wedding and funeral rituals. The foundation of the traditional upbringing of the Nanai people was to cultivate diligence, humility, taking care of the elderly and sick people and moral values such as “you can never take someone else`s things.” In the child upbringing and traditional education the Nanais were based on the praises and encouragement, and used bedtime stories, legends and tales and various plays. The narrative stories about the birth rituals show us the various methods as a substitute for medicine such as wood chips made from thinly sawed trees. Due to the high infant mortality rate there were many methods that were used to protect the baby`s life such as various amulets. In the part “Wedding rituals” contained the three phases of the preparation for wedding which are inquiry, uncorking, and wedding ceremony. During these phases the aspects of meticulous exchanges between the two families of the bride and groom were mentioned in detail. The author told in detail about wedding khalat with embroidered Three World and so forth. As for the funeral rituals, the Nanai people believe that when a person dies, his soul leaves him and though the outer shell dies, the soul is alive. This is why before sending a dead person to that world, he was treated like a living person. Here presented the various funeral and burial rituals. All these stories on four topics help us to deepen understanding on the way of life and traditional values of the Nanai people.
