This paper describes the Virtual Drum Kits with built-in motion sensors and wireless communication modules. We use the 3-axis acceleration sensors to recognize motions of a drum player and the wireless RS232c module to enhance the mobile ability of the system. With designed PCB-boards which use a 3.3V of power supply, we implemented two wireless drum sticks and a base drum band. The accelerometer can measure the dynamic acceleration of a gravity resulting from the motion of instruments. . The 3-axises(X, Y and Z) acceleration, velocity, and distance traveled were analyzed to determine the magnitude and direction of the drum stick motion. Fast response time is an important factor to make the virtual drum realistic. In this study, the most appropriate transmission rate between the instrument and the server was 15 time per second with 98% of accuracy.
