The present study focuses on how to mutually engage and apply hand massage in an effective manner from the view points of therapist about applying hand massage and information obtained from patients, and proposes a method for the same. To be more precise, in order to build a hand massage method for elderly people with dementia, three cases ofhand massage conducted between June 2010 and May 2011 (distinctive cases in the initial stage of hand massage) are described, progress notes recorded in video or episode are exp1ained, and therapists’ way of engaging and his viewpoints are elucidated. In addition, from this viewpoint of engaging with therapist, we have derived and proposed a method of hand massage in the initial stage of therapy for elderly people with dementia. It also came to light that viewpoint of interpersonal assistance, which is the basic skill of social work, is also necessary.

Purpose Integrin αv is a key regulator in the pathophysiology of hepatic fibrosis. In this study, we evaluated the potentialutility of an integrin αvβ3 positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer, 18F-labeled cyclic arginine-glycine-aspartic acidpenta-peptide ([18F]F-FPP-RGD2), for detecting hepatic integrin αv and function in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)model rats using integrin αv siRNA. Methods NASH model rats were produced by feeding a choline-deficient, low-methionine, high-fat diet for 8 weeks. PET/computerized tomography imaging and quantification of integrin αv protein, serum aspartate aminotransferase, and alanineaminotransferase were performed 1 week after single intravenous injection of integrin αv siRNA. Results Integrin αv siRNA (0.1 and 0.5 mg/kg) dose-dependently decreased hepatic integrin αv protein concentrations incontrol and NASH model rats. The hepatic mean standard uptake value of [18F]F-FPP-RGD2 was decreased dose-dependentlyby integrin αv siRNA. The mean standard uptake value was positively correlated with integrin αv protein levels in controland NASH model rats. Serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase concentrations were also decreasedby siRNA injection and correlated with liver integrin αv protein expression levels in NASH model rats. Conclusion This study suggests that [18F]F-FPP-RGD2 PET imaging is a promising radiotracer for monitoring hepatic integrinαv protein levels and hepatic function in NASH pathology.

A simple solvothermal reaction was used to prepare a 3-aminopropyl-functionalized silica-gel-based adsorbent for adsorbing Pd(II) from the nitric acid solution. Scanning electron microscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetry analysis were performed on the as-synthesized adsorbent to demonstrate the successful introduction of Schiff base groups. Batch experiments were used to investigate the effects of contact time, nitric acid concentration, solution temperature, and adsorption capacity. It is worth noting that the prepared adsorbent exhibited a higher affinity toward Pd(II) with the uptake approximately 100% even in a 2 M HNO3 solution. At an equilibrium time of 5 h, the maximum adsorption capacity of Pd(II) was estimated to be 0.452 mmol/g. The adsorbed Pd(II) could be completely eluted by dissolving 0.2 M thiourea solution in 0.1 M HNO3. Using a combination of particle-induced Xray emission analysis and an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer, the adsorbed Pd was found to be uniformly distributed on the surface of the prepared adsorbent and the existing species were Pd(II) and zero-valent Pd(0). Due to the desirable performances, facile preparation method, and abundant raw material source, the prepared adsorbent demonstrated a high application potential in the recovery of Pd(II) from simulated high-level liquid waste treatment

Background Waldenström Macroglobulinemia (WM) is a rare subtype of indolent B-cell lymphoma, and prospective randomized studies on WM are scarce. The R-CHOP therapy [rituximab (R), cyclophosphamide, hydroxy-doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone] is a popular and recommended regimen for primary therapy, prescribed by several treatment guide-lines for WM. However, treatment with R-CHOP is accompanied by severe myelosup-pression and high rates of peripheral neuropathy. Therefore, we retrospectively evaluated the efficacy and toxicity of half-dose CHOP combined with R as a primary therapy for WM. Methods Patients with untreated symptomatic WM, treated at the Disaster Medical Center be-tween April 2011 and September 2016, were retrospectively analyzed after admin-istration of 6 cycles of half-dose R-CHOP for every 3 weeks. The response, median time to response, best response, progression-free survival, overall survival, and toxicities were evaluated. Results Of the 20 WM patients analyzed, 16 (80%) received half-dose R-CHOP without vincris-tine, and 13 (65%) responded to the treatment. With a median follow-up duration of 26.3 months, the 2-year progression-free survival and 2-year overall survival rates were 70 and 93.3%, respectively. The median time to response and best response were 6 and 9.9 weeks, respectively. Grade 3/4 leukocytopenia, neutropenia, febrile neutropenia, and Grade 1 peripheral neuropathy developed in 32, 37, 0, and 21% of patients, respectively. Conclusion The half-dose R-CHOP is an effective and well-tolerated primary therapy for WM. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study reporting the use of a reduced-dose R-CHOP regimen for the primary treatment of WM.
