Navigating Brands of Sport-Based Big Business: Exploring Reputation Management in an Evolving Sport Context

        Andrew C. Billings,Timothy Coombs,Kenon A. Brown 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2020 Journal of Global Sport Management Vol.5 No.2

Issues of reputation management are negotiated in a wide array of contexts, yet arguably one of the most visible of these areas involves how such stories unfold within the sporting arena. Whether involving individual athletes, teams, organizations, leagues, or global entities, the process of navigating issues of image repair and/or restoration and crisis-based communication have never been more byzantine with a plethora of communicative media outlets functioning in myriad manners. This special issue of the Journal of Global Sport Management advances scholarship as it relates to the advancement of reputation in sports management contexts, specifically as it relates to crisis communication, image repair, and methods of modern apologia.

        Breast animation deformity

        Diana Lydia Dyrberg,Camilla Bille,Gudjon Leifur Gunnarsson,Tove Faber Frandsen,C. Andrew Salzberg,Jens Ahm Sørensen,Jørn Bo Thomsen 대한성형외과학회 2019 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.46 No.1

Breast animation deformity (BAD) has been reported to occur after submuscular implant placement following breast augmentation and immediate breast reconstruction. Despite its apparent impact on patients’ quality of life, BAD has only recently become a topic of general concern. Its incidence and etiology have yet to be established. The aim of this systematic review was to identify papers that clearly defined and classified BAD and described how the degree of animation was assessed. We performed a search in PubMed and Embase. Studies meeting the inclusion criteria that described BAD after implant-based breast augmentation or immediate breast reconstruction were included. After screening 866 publications, four studies were included: three describing BAD after breast augmentation and one describing BAD after immediate breast reconstruction. The median percentage of patients with some degree of BAD was 58%. The highest percentages were found in patients operated on using the Regnault technique or the dual-plane technique (73%–78%). The lowest percentages were found following the dual-plane muscle-splitting technique (30%) and the triple-plane technique (33%). We found no studies meeting the inclusion criteria that analyzed BAD after prepectoral implant placement. This review of the current literature suggests that the degree of BAD is proportional to the degree of muscle involvement. Evidence is scarce, and the phenomenon seems to be underreported. Future comparative studies are warranted.

Enveloped in the American Flag: Contrasting National Identity within Olympic and National Football League Media Consumption

        Melvin Lewis,Kenon A. Brown,Andrew C. Billings,Zachary W. Arth 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2022 Journal of Global Sport Management Vol.7 No.4

This study explored causal relationships and moderation effects in the context of the National Football League (NFL; American football), employing 732 respondents from a pair of nationally representative samples to determine the degree of similarity or difference between feelings about the United States as it relates to American consumption of the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2018 NFL season. Media consumption’s influence on one’s feelings of nationalism was stronger for Winter Olympic fans compared to NFL fans, yet no differences were detected on patriotism and internationalism factors. Academicians and sport marketers should regard these findings as a warrant for considering exploring cause-related sports marketing (CRSM) techniques. Differences in nationalism findings suggest that the comparisons between nations are exclusively an Olympics-based phenomena while the National Football League seems to be much more insular in that regard.
