This study investigates life, damage and durability through the analyses of fatigue load and vibration on disk brake models of A, B and C. Maximum equivalent stress is happened at the inside of disk brake on these models. As there are A, B and C models by order of life, model A has the most stable strength on fatigue analysis, The deformations at 3 kinds of models become nearly same on natural frequency analysis. The maximum total deformation and equivalent stress is shown at 1617Hz by harmonic vibration analysis on these models. As there are A, B and C models by order of deformation and stress, model A becomes lowest and safest. This study result can be effectively utilized with the design of brake disk in order to improve durability and prevention against its fatigue damage and vibration.

This study aims at the structural analysis of vibration and fatigue according to the configuration of engine mount. Maximum equivalent stress or deformation is shown at bracket or case respectively. As harmonic vibration analysis, the maximum displacement amplitude is happened at 4,000Hz. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, ‘SAE bracket history’ with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but ‘Sample history’ or ‘Saw tooth’ becomes most stable. In case of ‘Sample history’ or ‘Saw tooth’ with the average stress of 4,200MPa or 0MPa and the amplitude stress of -3,000MPa or 7MPa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 70%. This stress state can be shown with 7 times more than the damage possibility of ‘SAE bracket history’ or ‘SAE transmission’. The structural result of this study can be effectively utilized with the design on engine mount by investigating prevention and durability against its damage.

This paper studies with structural and vibration analysis to evaluate the structural safety according to the types of steering wheels. This study models are two, three and four spoke types. As the number of spokes increases, the maximum equivalent stress becomes smaller but the maximum total deformation becomes a little higher. The natural frequency at three models are shown from 180 to 230Hz as the maximum deformation. The frequency responses as maximum amplitude displacement are happened at 200Hz, 500Hz and 500Hz respectively. In this study, the steering wheel with three spoke type is shown to become suitable at durability and production.

This study investigates the air resistance due to deflector configurations of commonly used largetrucksat a driving speedof 80 km/h. Of the 6 models that are considered, the drag causedby the pressure on the front part of the trailer is largest for model 1. For model 1, the lift caused by the difference between the velocities of the upper and lower streams isgreatest amongall the models. Model 6 has the least resistance against the flow stream consideringthedrags and lifts of theflow models. Anoptimal design can be obtainedby investigating thesimulation analysis ofvarious deflector configurationsfor the upper part of largetrucks; this optimum deflector configuration will help reduce the air resistanceon large trucks.

In this study, the temperature, heat emission per unit time, and thermal stress or deformation of a radiator fan made of polyethylene or aluminum are analyzed for investigating its strength durability. Heat transfer in the case of the aluminum radiator fan is better than that in the case of the polyethylene radiator fan. Further, heat emission in the case of the aluminum fan is poorer than that in the case of the polyethylene fan. Moreover, because the thermal deformation of aluminum is much smaller than that of polyethylene, the thermal durability of the aluminum fan is better than that of the polyethylene fan. In an open space in front of the radiator and the closed space of the engine behind it, the thermal cooling effect of the polyethylene fan is better than that of the aluminum fan. Further, since polyethylene is lighter in weightthan aluminum, polyethylene, as a nonmetallic plastic, is more suitable as a material of an automotive radiator. However, because of the higher strength durability of the aluminum fan, it is better than the polyethylene fan under high-temperature conditions or in the case of a complex pipe.
