보도사진 속 감정과 댓글이 공감을 통해 태도와 의도에 미치는 영향

최근 일방향적 대중 미디어가 양방향적 대인 미디어와 결합되면서 미디어 콘텐츠 소비와 효과가 과거와는 다른 양상으로 나타나고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 온라인상의 보도사진 속에 표현된 감정이 공감으로 나타나는 과정에서 뉴스에 달린 댓글에 의해 어떠한 영향을 받게 되는가를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 지난 2010년 월드컵 개막 전에 월드컵에 대한 ‘환희’와 ‘좌절’을 표현한 사진 뉴스와 16강 진출에 대한 ‘옹호’와 ‘비난’의 댓글로 이루어진 실험 자극물을 이용하여 온라인 실험을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 사진 속에 표현된 감정과 댓글의 방향성은 공감정도에 유의미한 영향을 주었으며 이들의 상호작용 효과도 발견되었다. ‘환희’를 표현한 사진과 ‘옹호’의 내용을 담은 댓글은 가장 높은 공감을 이끌어 내었으며 이렇게 형성된 공감은 보다 적극적인 행위의도인 거리응원 참여의도에 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. In this research, attempts have been made to investigate the influence of feelings displayed in a photo news and the valence of online replies on the degree of individuals’ empathy. For that purpose, an online experiment was conducted before the 2010 World Cup Games. Results show that when the photo and replies were composed of positive feeling and tones, the degree of empathy was maximized. There was a significant interaction effect between the two independent variables. It was also found that the research model assuming the mediating role of empathy was significantly better than other alternative models without such an assumption.

Prior research has examined various factors affecting cultural adaptation but the effects of the factors were assumed linear. Present study investigates the interactive effects of media use (TV & Internet) and interpersonal elements (FtF communication, phone conversation, and social network) on cultural integration. In addition the role of extrovertism was also examined. Results indicate that significant interaction effects exist between media use and FtF communication and media use and the social network. It was also found that individuals’ psychological characteristics such as extrovetism influenced cultural integration.
