This experiment was carried out to examine the varietal differences in yield components and morphological characters at late heading stage of meadow fescue grown under plant basis. The results are summarized as follows; 1. Dry weight of a plant (PW) indicated positive significant correlations with heading tillers weight of a plant (HTW), stem weight of a plant(SW) and ear weight of a plant (EW), but not significant differences with the number of tillers per plant(NT) and weight of a tiller per plant(WT). 2. Leto and Trader obtained were higher yield than those of other varieties. High yielding varieties showed higher dry matter distribution ratio to heading tillers weight of a plant(HTW)and stem weight of a plant(SW). 3. Length of ears had positive significant correlations with leaf weight of a plant(LW), weight of a heading tiller (WHT), stem thickness of a heading tiller(STH), length of a flag leaf(FL) and width of a flag leaf(FW). 4. Plant type index(PTI) had positive significant correlations with the weight of a tiller (WT), weight of a heading tiller (WHT), stem thickness of a heading tiller (STH) and C/F ratio, but negative significant correlations with the number of tillers per plant (NT) and the number of heading tillers per plant(NHT). 5. The varieties could be classified into 3 type based on plant type index (PTI), it were M in tiller weight type, Leto and Tammisto in medium type and, Trader, First and Bundy in tiller number type, respectively.

This experiment was carried out to investigate the varietal differences of heading dates in both intra and inter-plants, and the relationship between heading dates and dry matter production in meadow fescue(Festuca pratensis L.). The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Durations of heading per heading tiller(DH/HT) had positive significant correlations with require days to heading(HD) and dry weight of a heading tiller(WHT), but negative significant correlations with dry weight of a plant(DW), durations of heading(DH) and the number of heading tillers per plant(HT). 2. The variations of heading dates in intra-plant were larger than those in inter-plant. 3. Heading dates within the whole cultivars were correlated positively with the variations of heading dates in intra-plant. And, the variations of heading dates in intra-plant had positive significant correlations with inter-plant.

N/A This experiment was carried out to compare the varietal differences in regrowth capacity of three varieties of meadow fescue, basing on the data of the dry weight of a plant(DW) of the tad cutting and its related characters of the 1 st cutting. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The dry weight of a plant(DW) of the 2nd cutting showed positive significant correlations with leaf weight of a plant(LW), stem weight of a plant(SW), weight of a tiller per plant(WT), leaf area per plant(LA), stem area per plant(SA), stem thickness(ST) and the efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area(DW/LA) of the 1st cutting. 2. Specific leaf weight(SLW) and the efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area(DW/LA) at the 1st cutting became to have more influence on the increase of specific stem weight(SSW) and the efficiency of dry matter production per stem area(DW/SA) at the 2nd cutting. 3. Specific stem weight(SSW) of the 1st cutting in M variety had positive significant correlations with the number of tillers per plant(N`I~ and the dry weight of a plant(DW) of the 2nd cutting. 4. The values of the efficiency of specific stem weight on the regowth(ESSW) were 4.09, 3.60 and 2.13 in M, Leto and Bundy, respectively. 5. The relationship between the dry weight of a plant(DW) of the 2nd cutting and the efficiency of spec stem weight on the regrowth(ESSW) was non-significant correlation(r = 0.0541). But, there was negative significant correlation in M(r=-0.9197^(**)) and in Leto(r=-0.8660^*), but non-significant correlation in Bundy(r = -0.3802), respectively. 6. The efficiency of specific stem weight on the regrowth(ESSW) is an effective functional factor fox the decision of regrowth capacity of the varieties.

This experiment was carried out to compare the varietal differences in dry matter production and its relationships with morphological characters and yield components of the 1st cuffing grown as spaced individuals. The varieties examined were M with tiller weight type, Leto with medium type and Bundy with tiller number type. The results are may be summarized as follows: 1. The dry weight of a plant(DW) of the lst cutting indicated positive correlations with leaf weight of a plant(LW), stem weight of a plant (SW), weight of a tiller per plant(WT), leaf area per plant(LA), stem area per plant(SA), stem thickness(ST) and the efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area(DW/LA), but negative significant correlation with the efficiency of dry matter production per stem area(DW/SA). 2. The dry weight of a plant(DW) in M, had positive significant correlations with stem weight of a plant(SW), number of tillers per plant(NT), weight of a tiller per plant(WT) and stem area per plant(SA). In Leto, had positive significant correlations with leaf weight of a plant(LW), weight of a tiller per plant(WT) and stem area per plant(SA). And, in Bundy showed positive correlations with leaf weight of a plant(LW), stem weight of a plant(SW), number of tillers per plant(NT), leaf area per plant(LA) and stem area per plant(SA), respectively. 3. The variety with heavier tiller weight and higher specific leaf weight showed a high efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area(DW/LA) than that of other varieties. Thus, the variety with high efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area(DW/LA) should contribute to higher dry matter production. 4. The limiting factor of dry matter production was different between the varieties. Thus, the tiller weight type was restricted by decrease the number of tillers per plant resulted from a heavier tiller, but that of tiller number type was restricted by small tillers.

In order to know the differences in yield components of three groups of varieties on the basis in plant type was studied in meadow fescue grown under plant basis. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The dry weight of a plant (PW) of the varieties indicated highly significant correlation with plant height (PH), weight of a tiller(WT), stem weight of a plant (SW) stem area (SA) and the efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area (PW/LA), but negative significant correlation with the efficiency of dry matter production per stem area (PW/SA). 2. The dry weight of a plant (PW) in tiller weight type, had positive significant correlation with plant height (PH), weight of a tiller (WT), stem weight of a plant (SW), stem area(SA), leaf area(LA) and specific stem weight (SSW), but negative significant correlation with specific leaf weight (SLW). But, there was not significant correlation with the efficiency of drymatter production per leaf area (PW/LA). 3. The dry weight of a plant (PW) in medium and tiller number type, had positive significant correlation with plant height (PH), weight of tiller(WT), stem weight of a plant(SW), stem area (SA) and the efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area(PW/LA), but negative significant correlation with the number of tillers per plant (NT). In medium type, had negative significant correlation with the efficiency of dry matter production per stem area (PW/SA). 4. The efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area (PW/LA) is an important functional factor for increasing the dry matter yield at late stage of growth (reproductive stage). Medium type showed a high efficiency of dry matter production per leaf area (PW/LA).

This experiment was carried out to examine the varietal differences of morphological characters and its relationships with plant type and dry matter yield at early heading stage in meadow fescue grown under plant basis. The results are summarized as follows; 1. Dry weight of a plant(PW) indicated positive significant correlations with the weight of a heading tiller (WHT), heading tillers weight of a plant(HTW), stem weight of a plant(SW), stem height(culm length) of a vegetative tiller(SHV), stem height of a heading tiller(SHH), leaf area(LA) and stem area(SA). 2. Tammisto, Leto and Bundy obtained were higher yield than those of other varieties. High yielding vetisties showed a high stem height. 3. Plant type index(PTI) had positive significant correlations with the weight of a tiller(WT), weight of a vegetative tiller(WVT), stem thickness of a vegetative tiller(STV) and stem thickness of a heading tiller(STH), but negative significant correlations with the number of tillers per plant(NT) and the number of vegetative tiller(NVT). 4. Stem thickness is an useful indicator for measuring the plant type index. 5. The varieties could be classified into tiller weight type, medium type and tiller number type based on plant type index(PTI), it were M in tiller weight type, Tammisto, Leto and First in Medium type and, Bundy and Trader in tiller number type, respectively.
