The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the concepts and the understandability of death and the levels of cognitive ability in children. In order to research this purporse five hypothes were considered as follows; 1. There will be the relationship between the gradual age and the level of cognitive ability and children's concept of death. 2. There will be the difference of the understandability of death according the children's age. 3. There will be the difference of the understandability of death according the children's religion. 4. There will be the difference of the understandability of death according the children's sex. 5. There will be the difference of the understandability of death acoording the death education toward children. The sample of this study was 200 children in one kindergarten and three elementary schools in Taegu city. The interview questions used to research about the understandability on death and children's congnitive ability on death. The data was analyzed X² analysis method. Findings of this survey were as follows; 1. There was the significant relationship between the gradual age and the level of cognitive ability on death. The significant difference was found between acquisition rate of Irreversibility and Nonfunctionality specifically. 2. The significant difference was found between the children's age and the understandability of the cause of death, the time of death, the death education and the event after death. 3. The significant difference was found between the children's religion and the cause of death and the time of death specifically. 4. The significant difference was not found between the children's sex and their understandability of death. 5. The significant difference was found between the death education for children and the cause of death and the event after death.
