캐나다 초등 사회과의 소수자 교육: 온타리오주를 중심으로

탈근대적 사회가치의 확산과 다문화 인종의 유입에 따라 사회과교육에서는 새로운 시민성 교육의 측면에서 소수자 교육에 대한 필요성이 제기되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 캐나다 온타리오 주의 사회과 교과서를 소수자 교육의 관점에서 분석하여 우리나라 사회과 교육에 주는 시사점을 찾아보았다. 분석 결과 우선 우리나라에서 행해지는 다문화교육을 보다 확산적으로 접근하여 소수자 교육의 다양한 내용 영역을 포함해야 한다는 점이 드러났다. 또한 교육과정 및 교과서 개발 과정 전반 및 내용 자체에 소수자 관련 내용을 보다 체계적으로 반영하여야 하며 다양한 영역의 소수자 교육을 실시해야 할 것이다. 그리고 2차 소수자화되는 상황이 벌어지지 않도록 많은 종류의 소수자를 교육 내용에 반영해야 할 것이며 삽화 및 사진을 적극 활용하여 소수자 교육의 효과를 극대화하여야 하겠다. As Post-Modern values have become widespread and distinct races and ethnicities have come to Korea, the need for study of minority education in social studies emerged in the past few years in terms of citizenship education. Therefore, this study will help explore the examples of minority education in Ontario, Canada by analysing the textbooks of elementary social studies for better understanding and implementation. The result of analysis showed that it is necessary to broaden the area of multicultural education by including various minority groups and the other areas of minority education. Also, there should be sensitivity to prejudice and there should not be exclusion of minorities in developing the curriculum and the textbooks, creating lesson plans and evaluation. Furthermore, varied groups of minority need to be addressed when selecting contents since focus on only ethnic minority group may produce another marginalized group among minority groups. Finally the examined textbooks tell us illustrations and photos in textbooks can play an efficient role for success of minority education.

편견감소(Anti bias)교육 프로그램이 편견과 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 초등학생들이 타문화에 대한 편견을 극복하고 다문화 사회를 이해할 수 있도록 편견감소 교육 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 적용해 봄으로써, 편견감소 교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 편견과 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 문학작품과 영상자료를 활용한 편견감소 교육 프로그램을 14차시로 개발 구성하였고, 인천광역시 소재 H 초등학교 5학년 두 개 학급 61명 연구 대상으로 하여, 총 14회에 걸쳐 실험처치를 하였다. 실험집단은 편견감소 교육 프로그램을 적용하고, 비교집단은 학교 교육과정에 계획된 논술 재량활동을 적용한 후 t검증과 공변량 분석으로 프로그램의 효과를 분석하였다. 또한 양적 연구를 보완하기 위해 논술과 소감문, 질문지, 일기 등으로 편견과 다문화 인식의 변화를 질적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 편견감소 교육 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단은 비교집단에 비해 편견 감소에 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 편견감소 교육 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단은 비교집단에 비해 다문화 인식에 효과가 있었다. 또한 실험집단은 학업 성취 능력에 따라 편견과 다문화 인식에 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 질적 분석을 통해서 편견감소 교육 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단이 비교집단에 비해 편견과 다문화 인식에 긍정적인 사고의 변화가 나타났다. 후속연구로 일반학생들을 대상으로 한 다양한 접근의 편견감소 교육과 다문화 교육과 함께 교사교육의 중요성을 피력하였다. The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of anti-bias educational programs on the bias and multicultural awareness. The participants of this study is 61 fifth-graders elementary students in two classes located in Incheon. This study organizes an anti-bias educational program that consisted of 14 class hours, using literary works and video materials. Data are collected from multiple sources including quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data are analyzed using the t-test and ANCOVA. For qualitative data, the participants are asked to take an essay-type test for writing their feelings and replying to a questionnaire before, during, and after they take the program, while the teacher is to keep records of her classes and to make diary entries. The research results are as follows: First, the experimental group to which the anti-bias educational program that used literary works and video materials on the reduction of bias and the improvement in multicultural awareness.

The purpose of this study was to develop an writing strategy with brainstorming. Concrete instructional contents for the dvelopment of writing strategy with brainstorming and the continuous application of the strategy to the whole writing's processes were developed here. And its method of application to elementary school and university were also described. The modern writing theory which reflects the importance of thinking had emphasis on the diversification of thinking ability. From this point of view, brainstorming which is adopted to a way of enhancing thinking ability was applied to students' writings. Brainstorming aims to pull out the unique idea from the consciousness of students and this study tried to develop continuous model of writing strategy through brainstorming. The advantage of continuous model could be in teaching the students interactively for whole writing processes. This study showed that brainstorming could be applied to the whole writing process, idea production - idea construction - paragraph writing, and described the results of its application at the order of method - application - consideration of instruction.
