The purpose of this study was to examine the different ways TV viewers have taken female images reflected in soap operas with empirical data. Data were collected from 319 samples living in big and medium size cities for 6 days(May 14 to 19 of 2003). Analysis outcomes showed that TV viewers' sex-role attitudes influenced the female image reception process. It was found that conservative sex-role attitude holders. especially those emphasizing the balance between home-making and outdoor works, showed the tendency of receiving soap operas' traditional and superwomen images as progressive female images. It was also found that gender, age, education, and profession were important factors influencing TV viewers' receptions of female images reflected in soap operas.
