When the air ?low cross-sectional area of axial fan in Power Plants decreases, the stall happens and blade can be broken or uncontrollable. The foreign made stall warning system had been installed to prevent this problem, but this system was difficult to operate normally because of difficult maintenance, high price, long-term repair and so on. So the stall warning system has been developed by the domestic technology to operate the fan normally in power plant and the stable operation of power plant is being expected.

This paper is written for the development of boiler combustion air control algorithm of coal-fired power plant by the steps of design, coding and test. The control algorithms were designed in the shape of cascade control for two parts of air master, forced draft fan pitch blade by standard function blocks. This control algorithms were coded to the control programs of distributed control systems under development. The simulator for coal-fired power plant was used in the test step and automatic control, sequence control and emergency stop tests were performed successfully like the tests of the actual power plant. The reliability will be obtained enough to apply to actual site if the total test has been completed in the state that all algorithms were linked mutually. It is expected that the project result will contribute to the safe operation of domestic power plant and the self-reliance of coal-fired power plant control technique.

Generator Droop(Speed Regulation) is very important for the stable operation of power system and the profit increase by the auxiliary service like frequency control. After reviewing the control logic and parameters, we conducted the load following characteristic test and adjusted the speed regulation and parameters. Speed regulation has been improved close to the base value. All of power plants including the pumped storage power plants need to adjust the speed regulation during the overhaul period.

Almost domestic power plants are being operated by foreign distributed control system. Many korean power plants are being operated over their lifetime so they need to be retrofitted. So we are developing the distributed control system to solve this problem by our own technique. The simulator was already made to verify the reliability of the algorithms. The unit loop function tests of all algorithms were finished in the actual distributed control system for installation of power plant and their results were satisfactory. The unit loop function tests are for each unit equipment algorithm. So the total operation tests will be made with all algorithms together in the actual distributed control system to be applied to power plant. When the verification through all tests is finished, algorithms with hardware will be scheduled to be installed and operated in the actual power plant. This research result will contribute to the safe operation of the deteriorated power plant and korean electric power supply as well as domestic technical progress. This entire processes and results for the development are written for the example of boiler feedwater master algorithm out of all algorithms in this paper.

The air flow must be adjusted properly to combust the fuel optimally. The highest level of controller, air master controls the combustion air flow. The final signal of air master, air flow demand is determined by boiler master, oxygen, carbon monoxide, fuel flow, etc. this paper shows the entire concept of air flow control in high capacity of coal-fired power plant. the program by this concept is scheduled to be operated in actual power plant after being simulated shortly.

The primary air is used to transfer and dry the fuel in power plant. the primary air flow is controlled by hot primary air to furnace differential pressure which is determined by coal feeder speed. this paper shows primary air pressure control shortly in high capacity of fossil power plant. the program by this control is scheduled to be operated in actual power plant after being simulated soon.

The important control variables of power plant are air, fuel and water which each one has a master controller named of air master, fuel master and feedwater master. Boiler master controller controls the air master, fuel master and feedwater master. we developed the suitable boiler master control logic to control 500㎿ class coal-fired power plant and plan to verify its performance through simulation test.
