CALM 시스템을 활용한 디자인 스튜디오 수업의 만족도에 관한 연구

CALM 시스템(Class Applied LCD Modular System)이란 디자인 스튜디오 수업을 위해 개발된 멀티스크린 방식의 프리젠테이션용 시청각 장비이다. 본 연구에 앞서 직접 개발한 이 시스템의 개요는 학생들이 과제를 온라인에서 업로드하면 19인치 LCD 모니터 약 32개로 구성된 CALM 시스템의 멀티스크린에 디스플레이 되어 여러명의 학생이 과제를 동시에 공개적으로 전시 발표하며 수업을 하는 것이다. 또한 중심에 위치한 터치패드형식의 42인치 PDP모니터로 선택한 과제물을 확대하여 설명할 수 있고 교수로부터 직접 지도를 받을 수도 있다. 현재 실제로 작동하는 프로토타입을 제작하여 두 개의 스튜디오 실기 공간에 설치하고 디자인 스튜디오 수업에 활용 해 오고 있다. 본 연구는 이 시스템을 수업에 적용하여 새로운 발표 수업의 행태를 관찰하고 사용자의 의견을 수렴하여 그 만족도를 파악하고자 하는 것이다. 연구 방법으로는 전문가 집단 표적 면접법(FGI)을 통해 의견을 수합하고 분석하여 설문을 구성하였고 CALM시스템의 사용 후 그 만족도를 조사하였다. 교육자인 교수 및 강사는 CALM 시스템을 활용한 인원이 한정되어있는 관계로 면접과 관찰에 의한 정성적인 방법으로 진행하여 조사의 방향제시에 참고를 하였고 피교육자인 학생들은 정량적인 방법으로 설문조사의 결과를 요인 분석과 분산 분석 등의 통계기법을 활용하여 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 디자인교육 기자재 중 최초로 개발된 CALM 시스템의 실제 수업의 적용성과 기능성을 검토하여 추가적인 개발에 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다. CALM System is visual equipment used for multi screen presentation. The system was developed for use in design studio classes. An overview of this system which was directly developed prior to the present research entails students uploading their assignment online and forwarding it to the studio where the equipment is installed. Then the assignment is displayed on the CALM System which is made up of approximately thirty two 19 inch LCD monitors. This enables several students to present their assignments simultaneously to the class. Also the students can magnify the size of the displayed assignment using the touch pad type 42 inch PDP monitor found in the center of the system. They can also receive guidance directly from the professor. At present actually operating prototype have been manufactured and installed in the practical learning space of two studios. The purpose of the present study is to observe the new pattern of a presentation class by applying this system to the classroom and to understand the level of satisfaction for such a class by conducting a survey of users of the system. The method of instruction based on existing forms of presentation was utilized in parallel and suggestions were collected from focused group interviews prior to drafting the survey questionnaire. Then this study surveyed the level of satisfaction after use of the CALM system. First of all since the number of professors and lecturers who are the providers of learning utilizing the CALM System is limited this study employed a qualitative method to conduct the necessary survey. The survey of students who are beneficiaries of learning was conducted using statistical methods such as factor analysis of the results of the survey conducted using quantitative methodology as well as dispersion analysis. It is believed that the results of this study will contribute toward additional development of the CALM System based on its review of its applicability and functionality in an actual classroom.
