Seowon, i.e., Korean ancient lecture hall, has the most typical architectural style that shows social situation in the era of Chosun Dynasty. Such a perfect and social architecture is very much important and historical creature to be difficult to find. Seowon was built up to respect science and ancient sages by the members of the Sarimpa, i.e., the Sarim School who were political1y sacrificed. The school launched to build up Seowon centering on Yeongnam region starting from the Sosu Seowon, that is, the first Saek Seowon, i.e., the Seowon named by king. From point of view of social situation, i.e., party strife at that time, Seowon can be regarded not by deterioration but by "difference". The subject and idea form determined the nature of schools by criticism consciousness and differentiated it. The schools' efforts to keep their identity consisted of Chi-philosophy and rationalism, scientific inclination and political inclination, attachment to native village, attachment to political power, dispute on manners, The Seowon architecture was produced through the background and events. Seowon is thought to be material product as well as political product that expresses each school's identity. Seowon can be differentiated by the expressed etiquette.
