Active control of acoustic noise is an application area of adaptive digital signal processing with increasingly interest along the last year. This work studies the implementation of the multichannel LMS filter and the application of this algorithm for the reduction of the noise inside a vechicle cabin using a number of 'secondary sources' drived by adaptive filtering of a reference noise source. Firstly, we propose the use of an adaptive method for the time-varient optimal convergence factor. Secondly, we propose the use of adaptive delayed inverse model to estimate the elastic-acoustic transfer function presented in vechicle cabin.<br/> The original, primary source is often periodic, with a known fundamental frequency. A suitably filtered reference signal can thus be used to drive the secondary sources. An algorithm is presented for adapting the coefficients of an FIR filter feeding such a secondary source in such a way as to minimize the output of a suitably placed microphone. In this algorithm, the coefficients of adaptive filter driving an array of secondary sources can be adapted to minimize the sum of the squares of the outputs of a number of error microphones. The multichannel LMS algorithm displays that such an algorithm is considered suitable to used for the global suppression of noise in vehicle cabin.

Active noise control of random noise which propatate in the vehicle cabin as a form of spherical wave is the target of this study. In the previous study, the adaptive algorithm for adaptive controller is presented for the application in active noise control system. And for the preliminary study of adaptive active noise control in vehicle cabin as a real system, a computer simulation is performed on the effectiveness of the adaptive algorithm in the amplitude of the pressure fluctuation. This work studies the implementation of multi-channel feedforward adaptive algorithm for the reduction of the noise inside a vehicle cabin using a number of secondary sources derived by adaptive filtering of reference noise source. Multi-channel adaptive feedforward algorithm are verified in numerical simulation and semi-experimental justification of developed system is made on a domestic passenger car. In the results of semi-experimental study, the noise of specific region in the interior of automobile are reduced for the appreciabe sound pressure level in the operating engine rpm and finally this study suggests the capabilities of the real time active noise control in 3 dimensional acoustic fields.

With the advance of the starrlard of living, the demand on automobile reqires beyond the traffic device, therefore the interior noise has been the important factor for improvement of ride quality. The frequency components in the vehicle cabin on driving are effeted by the frequency of running engine. Specially, in low frequency ranges(20-200Hz), rooming noise of structual coupling noise is generated by the coupling of vibration of driving system and acoustical mode of interior. In this study, multichannel adaptive algorithm was realized and the noise of specific region in the interior of automobile was intended to be reduced through the control of engine noise in the vehicle cabine using developed algorithm.
