This study set out to conduct a kinematic analysis and make comparison of characteristics of backhand drop and trickle boast with seven male and female national players, thus providing basic data for maintaining technical accuracy and stable position. The findings led to the following conclusions: Trickle boast(TB) had a bigger angle difference at the right elbow than backhand drop(BD) as it involved greater right arm movement to deceive the opponent. As for racket inclination, TB has a smaller angle and wider contact area with the ball, gave greater ball spins, and thus generated higher ball velocity than BD. TB and BD showed a similar pattern on body center movement distances, X, Y, and Z, which suggests that the two techniques have different ball qualities but similar forms. TB had greater maximum racker head velocity than BD, which is because TB should regulate ball speed to hit the side and front, given its features. As for maximum shock power, TB showed smaller differences than BD in regulating movements. Those findings indicate that BD and TB have similar forms and that ball quality is dependent on big arm movement to deceive the opponent racket inclination. Players need to maintain the same form and make good use of racket sides to achieve desirable results with BD and TB.
