        In order to reduce the analysis time that occurs when performing response spectrum analysis with the mode combination method according to U. S NRC Regulatory Guide 1.92, only modes within 50 Hz are combined. Considering the modal influence of the remaining modes, an alternative to multiplying the zero-period acceleration by 1.5 when the Missing Mass Method is applied was suggested. Analysis is performed for tank that require a long mode combination until the mode where the sum of the total effective mass becomes 90%. In Case A, response spectrum analysis according to U. S NRC Regulatory Guide 1.92 is performed. In Case B, response spectrum analysis is performed with mode combinations up to 50 Hz. In Case C, the response spectrum analysis is performed by the method presented. The analysis time of Case B and Case C was lower than that of Case A. The stress was different for each part of the tank depending on the mode characteristics, and the maximum stress difference between Case A and Case B. The difference of stress between with Case C and Case A was very similar. In case of using the alternative method is used, the analysis time is greatly reduced and the effected for modes after 50 Hz.
