In this paper, we propose the next-generation broadband wireless access network architecture, which is based on the wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network(WDM-PON), and efficient mobility management scheme to support quality-of-service(QoS) of multimedia services in the next-generation wireless network. By adapting WDM-PON technology to wireless access network, the proposed scheme can realize broadband wireless access network. In addition, We utilize newly proposed local channels between optical network units (ONUs) or subnets in order to support the fast and efficient local data and handoff data transmission. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of handoff delay and packet loss thru computer simulation. Thru various computer simulation results, we verified the superior performance of the proposed scheme by comparing with the results of other schemes.

In this paper, we propose an enhanced handoff support scheme based on network-based mobility management protocol, Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), which is actively standardized by the IETF NETLMM working group. By utilizing the dynamic virtual hierarchy network architecture between mobile access gateways (MAGs), the proposed scheme can support network scalability and reliability to wireless access network. In addition, we propose pre-authentication process based on the policy store (PS) to support a fast and seamless handoff. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of handoff delay and end-to-end delay thru computer simulation. Thru various computer simulation results, we verified the superior performance of the proposed scheme by comparing with the results of other schemes.

This paper proposes an algorithm for design of a multiple ring network that can be applied to an arbitrary topology in the WDM optical transport networks. Especially, we suggest an integer linear program(ILP) formulation with the objective of minimizing the total cost of nodes based on the reconfigurable OADM(ROADM) architecture and propose a heuristic algorithm to reduce computational complexity of the exact problem formulation. To evaluate the performance and validity of this scheme, we applied it to an NSFnet topology assuming the dynamic or static traffic condition and compared it with a mesh methodology about capacity of connection requests and the total cost of the nodes.
