In order to assess the reliability of the blower motor for automobiles, accelerated life test model and procedure are developed. By using this method, acceleration factor and life distribution are analyzed. The main results are as follows; ⅰ) the noise failure mode at blower motor is caused by bearing wear. ⅱ) the main acceleration factor of bearing wear is eccentric force. ⅲ) the relation of life and eccentric force is exponential function. ⅳ) the life distribution of the bearing wear is fitted well to Weibull life distribution and the accelerated life model is fitted well to the inverse power model. ⅴ) the exponent of the inverse power model is 1.88. ⅵ) for the reason, designed accelerated test method according to noise failure mode is verified.

Generally, failure of the automotive relay is considered as N.T.F (No Trouble Found) failure. Therefore, reason and mechanism of the failure should be solved by detailed analysis through development of failure reappearance test. In this study, failure root-cause analysis and field environmental analysis are performed for determining conditions of failure reappearance in automotive relay. And field failure of the relay is reproduced by using these conditions. The results show failure mode of the relay, an effect of switching velocity and a failure reappearance test under the failure mode and field conditions.
