어머니들의 관점에서 본 정신지체학생의 방학 중 여가생활

이 연구의 목적은 어머니들의 관점에서 정신지체자녀들의 방학 중 여가생활 실태와 정신 지체자녀들의 여가생활을 위한 어머니들의 요구에 대한 자료를 기초로 정신지체학생의 방학생활 지원 방향을 탐색하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 광주광역시에 있는 특수학교 및 일반학교 정신지체 중.고등학생의 어머니 20명을 모집하여 면대면 또는 전화 면접을 실시하였다. 세명을 제외한 모든 연구 참여자의 자녀들은 여름방학 중 기관을 이용하고 있었으나 의미 없이 보내는 시간의 감소, 형제들과의 갈등 회피, 보육 등 대부분 소극적인 관점에서 기관을 이용하고 있었다. 어머니들은 흥미롭지 못한 프로그램, 퇴출에 대한 두려움, 프로그램 선택의 제한과 높은 경쟁률 등 기관 이용과 관련된 여러 문제를 지적하였고, 정부의 지원 부족과 기관의 프로그램 미비가 문제의 원인이라고 보았다. 정신지체자녀가 방학 중 가정에서 보낼 때지루한 생활이 정신지체자녀가 경험하는 주요 문제였으며, 어머니의 스트레스 및 피로 증가와 형제들 간의 갈등 증폭이 가족들이 경험하는 주요 문제였다. 어머니들은 정신지체자녀의 방학생활을 위해 예산, 인력, 시설, 교통편의 등을 정부에 요구하였고, 전일제 운영, 방학마다 연속적인 프로그램 참여 보장, 운동 및 레크리에이션 등 프로그램 형태 및 내용 개선을 기관에 요구하였다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the leisure activities of secondary school students with mental retardation during the summer break and their mother``s needs for the children``s leisure activities. The primary author interviewed individually with a total of 20 mothers in direct contact (13 cases) or on the phone (7 cases), taking an average of 50 minutes. All the interviews were audiorecorded, transcribed, and analyzed in accordance with qualitative research methods. The mothers reported that their children with mental retardation spent leisure at various types of centers but most of the programs were not interesting to them. The mothers stated that they were afraid of their children being driven out of the program and the centers ran short of support from the governments. The mothers stated that students with mental retardation got bored with staying home and that their children``s stay at home during the break increased stress and conflicts between siblings. Finally, the participants expressed the need for expanding governmental support and diversifying the programs at centers. Their need was intensified by their statement that they would not have appropriate plans for their children with mental retardation during the upcoming winter break.

정신지체 중학생의 어머니들이 인식하는 자녀의 진로에 대한 질적 연구

본 연구는 중학교 특수학급에 재학 중인 정신지체 자녀를 둔 어머니가 인식하는 자녀의 진로 장벽에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 이를 위하여 중학교 특수학급에 재학 중인 정신지체 학생의 어머니 10명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 질적 분석 결과, 다음과 같은 3개의 주제가 도출되었다: 1) 자녀의 진로에 대해 부모가 인식하는 장벽(가정 차원, 학교 차원, 지역사회 차원), 2) 성공적인 진로 찾기를 위한 역량강화 과제(자녀와 가정 차원, 학교 차원, 지역사회 차원, 정부 차원), 3) 정책적 지원. 본문에서 면담에 참여한 어머니들의 구체적인 인터뷰 내용을 제시하였고, 자료의 분석을 통해 논의에서는 본 연구의 결과를 중심으로 정신지체 중학생의 진로 장벽의 관련 요소를 살펴보고, 필요한 지원과 정책을 고찰하고 앞으로의 나아갈 방향과 학교와 가정을 연계한 진로 지원의 필요성 등을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the career barriers of intellectual disabilities who attended general middle schools. Interviews with 10 mothers of students with intellectual disabilities were conducted in order to investigate the mothers’ experiences with their student with intellectual disabilities. Three themes emerged from qualitative analysis: (1) the impact of student’s career barriers (2) the task of empowerment for intellectual disabilities, and (3) the support needed for raising student with intellectual disabilities. Implications for policy and practices for student with intellectual disabilities was provided.
