Rethinking Aristotelian Drama Today: Complicite’s A Disappearing Number

This paper examines the dramaturgical strategies of Complicite’s A Disappearing Number. Although the work is widely considered to be constructed beyond the dramatic principles of Aristotle’s Poetics, I question how far this view is valid. I do not argue that it is a strictly Aristotelian play; indeed, the work, in so many aspects, does not fall within the boundaries of the tradition and looking at it through this frame obviously has its limits. However, I believe that the attempt to read a non-Aristotelian performance through the Aristotelian frame is an effective way of tracing how contemporary theatre and drama have diverged from its predecessors, precisely due to its limitations. Whereas dramatists and theatre practitioners have endeavoured to create works that challenge Aristotle’s dramatic theory, theoretical analyses thereof have very much relied on Aristotle. By using Poetics as the main device to look at A Disappearing Number I hope to reinstate how exclusive this can be. At the same time, this paper will question whether the Aristotelian roots have been truly severed, as many practitioners argue.

Modernist Challenges against Time and Space ― The Aesthetics of Bergson and Matisse

This paper investigates Bergson’s concept of duration and Matisse’s artistic challenges against perspective. The concept of duration offered an effective means to question the Modernist paradigm of thought and perception. By proposing duration as a state of heterogeneity, Bergson provides us with an alternative concept of the present which transcends the boundaries of the physical now, giving focus to the subjectivity of the individual. My discussion of Bergson will then be followed by a short study on the challenge against perspective by Matisse, widely regarded as one of the key figures who contributed to disrupting mimetic conventions in the field of painting. By looking at the works of Matisse, who was deeply influenced by the philosophy of Bergson, I will examine how the subjectivity of the artist and spectator came to occupy the central role of artistic production and reception.

시설보호아동과의 치료적 관계에 대한 미술치료사의 체험연구

본 연구의 목적은 시설보호아동과의 치료적 관계에 대한 미술치료사의 체험을 이해하고자 하는 데 있다. 본 연구는 해석학적 현상학적 연구방법으로 수행되었으며, 총 6명의 미술치료사와면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료들을 분석한 결과 총 3개의 본질적 주제들과 6개의하위 주제들이 도출되었다. 연구결과의 본질적 주제들은 첫째, ‘새로운 만남의 시작’ 둘째, ‘미술의 울타리 안에서 깊어지는 관계들’ 셋째, ‘헤어짐을 위한 준비’이다. 본 연구의 결론은 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 시설보호아동들과 인격적인 나-너 만남의 관계를 가진다. 둘째, 연구 참여자들은시설 보호아동들과 신뢰를 바탕으로 한 윤리적 사랑의 관계를 형성한다. 셋째, 연구 참여자들은시설보호아동들과 미술작업을 매개로 한 지평융합의 상생관계를 맺는다. 본 연구는 미술치료사와 시설보호아동과의 치료적 관계의 의미를 생생히 전달함으로써, 시설보호아동에 대한 이해를높이고 시설보호아동을 위한 미술치료에 기초적 자료를 제공하는데 의의가 있다

모더니즘의 시, 공간에 대한 도전 -베르그손과 마티스의 미학을 중심으로

고대로부터 근대, 현대에 이르기까지 미메시스는 서구의 주요한 인식적 틀로서 존재해왔다. 때문에 모더니스트들의 미메시스적 예술 창작 방식으로부터 탈피하고자 하는 경향은 다시 말해 전혀 다른 인식의 패러다임이 필요했다는 것을 의미한다. 외향성, 그리고 이성중심주의적 현실 인식에 대한 불신이 만연했고, 이에 따라 ``본다는 것은 사물을 통제한다는 것``이라는 암묵적 합의는 설 곳을 잃게 되었다. 이러한 사상적 위기는 예술 형식에 있어서의 혁명적 변화를 추동하였고, 외부 세계에 대한 모사는 더 이상 예술가의 임무가 아니었다. 이제 모더니스트 예술가는 미메시스적 전략으로는 결코 재현될 수 없는 가치를 표현하고자 했다. 이 논문은 베르그손의 지속성의 개념과 중기 마티스의 회화의 관계를 살핀다. 베르그손은 지속성의 개념을 통해 근대 인식적 틀의 유효성에 대한 근본적인 문제를 제기했다. ``끊임없이 운동하는 이질성의 상태``로서의 지속성의 개념은 단지 시간에 대한 또 다른 이해의 방법을 제시할 뿐만 아니라, ``현재``를 이제까지와는 전혀 다른 방식으로 접근하여 물리적이고 규격화된 시간 속에서의 ``지금``을 극복할 수 있는 가능성을 우리에게 안겨주었다. 지속성에 대한 고찰은 마티스의 원근법에 대한 도전에 관한 소고로 이어진다. 마티스는 베르그손의 사상적 영향을 받았을 뿐만 아니라 회화 전반에서 미메시스적 양식을 해제하는 데 지대한 영향을 끼쳤다. 마티스의 회화를 살펴봄으로써 서구 모더니즘 이후 예술 창작 및 수용 과정이 어떻게 예술 활동의 가장 중요한 부분을 차지하게 되었는지를 간략히 살피도록 한다. 미술치료 초심 수퍼바이저의 체험연구 - 역할전환 과정을 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 미술치료 초심 수퍼바이저가 숙련된 치료사에서 수퍼바이저로서의 역할전환 과정을 이해해보고자 미술치료 초심 수퍼바이저의 경험을 해석학적 현상학 방법으로 탐구하였다. 본 연구를 위해 총 4명의 미술치료 초심 수퍼바이저들의 면담을 통한 자료가 수집되었다. 수집된 자료들을 분석한 결과 총 4개의 본질적 주제들과 9개의 하위 주제들이 도출되었다. 연구결과의 본질적 주제들은 첫째 ‘새로운 제안, 낯선 역할을 받아들이다’, 둘째, ‘수퍼바이저라는 새로운 옷을 입다’ 셋째, ‘수퍼바이저라는 역할의 해답을 미술에서 찾다’, 넷째, ‘함께 성장해 나가다’ 이다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구의 결과가 미술치료학 분야에 던지는 중요한 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 숙련된 치료사에서 수퍼바이저라는 역할전환 과정에서 정도의 차이는 있었지만 모두 어려움을 경험하였다. 둘째, 연구 참여자들은 수퍼바이지에게 양질의 수퍼비전을 제공하기 위한 최선의 노력을 기울였고, 이는 역할에 대한 ‘책임감’에서 비롯되었다. 셋째, 연구 참여자들은 미술을 통해 자신이 마주하고 있는 어려움을 객관적으로 바라보고 이해하게 되었으며 해결해 나갈 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대하여 논의하였다. The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of novice art therapy supervisors using hermeneutic phenomenological methods to understand the process of changing their roles from skilled therapists to supervisors. For this study, data were collected through interviewing with four novice art therapy supervisors. After analyzing collected data, 4 essential themes and 9 sub-themes were defined. The essential themes of the research results were “accepting new offers, unfamiliar roles,” “wearing new clothes called supervisors,” “finding answers to the role of supervisors in art,” and “grow together.” Based on this, the conclusion of the study was as follows: First, the study participants experienced difficulties, although there were differences in degree in the process of changing the role of a supervisor from a skilled therapist. Second, the study participants made the best effort to provide quality supervision for supervisees, which resulted from the ‘responsibility' of a supervisor. Third, the research participants objectively looked at and understood the difficulties they were facing through art and were able to solve them. Based on these results, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.

시설거주 치매노인과 미술치료적 개입에 관한 고찰

본 연구는 최근 그 수가 급격히 증가하고 있는 노인 중 특히 치매를 경험하는 노인과 이들의 삶의 환경인 시설에서의 현황을 이론적으로 고찰해 보고, 미술치료적 개입에 대한 선행 연구들을 바탕으로 그 유용성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이론적 고찰에 따른 논의내용을 정리하자면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 최근 치매노인의 수가 증가하면서 가정을 대신하여 시설에 입소하기를 희망하는 치매노인의 수가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 시설의 현실적 어려움 및 환경적 특성 등의 여러 이유로 시설에 거주하는 치매노인의 심리적인 문제가 나타나고 있다. 따라서 시설의 환경을 이해하고 시설거주 치매노인의 정서적 돌봄을 고려한 적절한 심리적 개입이 필요한 상황이다. 둘째, 치매노인은 언어기능의 저하로 생각과 감정을 표현함에 있어 어려움을 경험할 수 있으므로 자기표현의 기회를 제공하여 감정 표출을 돕는 심리적 개입이 필요하다. 미술치료는 미술작업을 통해 자기를 표현하도록 도움으로써 언어적 치료방법의 한계성을 보완할 수 있고 치매노인의 욕구와 감정을 외부로 표현하는 촉매제 역할을 할 수 있다. 셋째, 집단미술치료는 이미지로써 상호작용이 가능하므로 치매노인의 수동성을 감소시키고 상호작용의 기회를 제공할 수 있다. 또한 안전한 치료적 환경을 제공하여 부정적 정서를 표출할 수 있도록 돕고, 다양한 매체를 활용한 감각적 자극과 창조적 활동은 긍정적 정서를 경험하도록 도울 수 있다. 본 연구자는 선행연구 고찰을 통해 최근 치매노인의 정서적 측면을 다룬 연구가 늘어나고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 흐름을 반영하여 볼 때, 미술치료적 개입이 시설거주 치매노인의 정서에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있을 것이라고 기대하며 치매노인의 다양한 심리적 변인에 관련한 미술치료 프로그램들이 개발되고 후속연구가 지속되기를 제안한다.
