This study revealed the results related to the functionality of outdoor wear required when man and women in their 30s to 50s engage in outdoor activities. Based on the results of the survey, we proposed composition draft for a smart outdoor jacket with main functions of GPS device and light-emitting device using solar cell and EL. Absorption and release of sweat, functionality regarding rain and wind, and lightweightness, etc. from material functionalities of outdoor wear were found to be important. From function required in clothing for outdoor activity, location tracking, night glow, and lighting functions were found to be most important. For results investigating the necessity of the jacket``s location tracking function and lighting function using solar cell, high scores of 3.9~4.0 were given. Purchase intentions for smart outdoor jacket with location tracking and lighting functions devised by this study were fairly positive and most responses indicated that the appropriate purchase price was between 200,000 to 300,000 won while possible problems of this smart outdoor jacket were listed in the order of washing inconvenience, high price, device weight, and discomfort in movement. The draft proposal to integrate with wearable devices for smart outdoor jacket prototype is as follows: Solar cell has been attached to the upper arm but placed inside a transparent pocket which has been detachable for washing convenience while the solar cell and controller have been integrated into a single unit. Using frequent movement exhibited by the arms, EL has been attached along the center line of the raglan sleeve for easy spotting when used as an emergency signal or for night lighting function during outdoor activity. GPS has been attached on the left sleeve so that the person can bend the left arm inward and operate the GPS screen with the right hand while walking or running outdoors.

This study is an initial report of actual wearing conditions and attitude based on a survey of wearing outdoor wear for men and women in their 30s to 50s who enjoy daily leisure sport activities. Most middle-aged men and women who enjoy outdoor activities were interested in new trends and clothing styles. The greatest area of interest was health(42.9%), followed by leisure and sports(38.4%); in addition, hiking(40.2%) was the most popular outdoor activity. The majority of subjects participated in outdoor activities for over 5 years(34.4%). The highest frequency of outdoor activities was conducted once or twice a month, and it took one to three hours for each activity. Nearly half of the respondents( 47.7%) answered that the goal of outdoor activities was to maintain their health. Subjects in their 40s and 50s were more equipped in their outdoor activities and in their 50s made ongoing investments despite costs. When wearing clothing, the subjects placed a priority on design(in the case of subjects in their 30s) and comfort(for subjects in their 40s and 50s). This survey shows that the subjects emphasized access to outdoor wear and equipment. In all age groups, the biggest complaint about outdoor wear was price; in addition, they were unsatisfied with the length and the sleeves of outdoor jackets. Outdoor wear will draw a positive attention for its practical use of clothing if it is developed according to consumer demands based on functionality for outdoor activities and convenience in daily life.
56-65세 미국 여성의 3차원 바디 스캔에 대한 태도 및 신체 인지

본 연구는 자동고객맞춤, 가상피팅 및 개인 구매자 서비스와 같은 바디 스캔 데이터의 상업적 적용을 위한 기초적 자료를 제공하고자 56세-65세 미국 여성을 대상으로 3차원 바디 스캔 과정에 대한 태도와 신체인지 정도를 알아보았다. 휴먼솔루션 바디스캐너를 이용하여 54명의 3차원 측정을 하였다. 피험자들은 자연스런 자세와 두 팔을 자연스럽게 몸에서 벌린 자세를 2번 스캔을 하였다. 스캐닝 후 스캔절차와 신체 인지에 관련된 문항으로 구성된 설문지를 작성하도록 하였다. 그 결과, 대부분의 피험자들이 바디 스캔복 착용, 레이저 광선, 스캔 자세, 소요 시간을 포함한 모든 3차원 바디 스캔 과정을 편안하게 느꼈으며, 그 중 98%의 피험자들은 인체 측정이나 가상 피팅을 위해 재 스캔 할 의사가 있다고 응답하였다. 또한 3차원 시각 데이터에 대한 높은 흥미도 보였다. 또한 신체 인지에 대하여 피험자들은 인체 부위 중 복부를 가장 불만족스럽게 여기고 있었으며 다음으로 몸무게, 허리, 엉덩이, 허벅지의 순으로 나타났다. 그들은 나이가 듦에 따라 복부, 허리, 몸무게, 엉덩이, 허벅지가 변화되었다고 인지하여 체중 증가와 함께 부위별 지방의 분포 변화가 일어남을 알 수 있었으며, 신체 만족도와 신체 변화 간 상관관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 신체 변화에 인지와 3D 스캔에 대한 긍적적인 태도는 앞으로 새로운 기술이 충분히 받아질 수 있을 여겨진다. This study aimed to know consumer’s attitude toward 3D body scan process and body awareness focused women aged 56-65 to provide basic data in commercial application of body scan data such as automated custom fit, virtual try-on, and personal shopper service. We took three-dimensional body scans of 54 women using the Human Solutions scanner. Participants were scanned twice, once with natural pose and a second scan with their arms held away from their body. After scanning, subjects were asked to fill out a questionnaire focused on their response to the scan process and body awareness. After scan, most of participants had a comfortable feeling for 3D body scan process including clothes for scan, laser light, scan posture, and time. 98% of participants had intention for re-scan for body measurement or virtual fit analysis. Also they were very interested in 3D visualizations. The result of body awareness survey was among the part of their body, the abdomen was the most unsatisfied part. Then they answered weight, waist, hip and thigh in that order as unsatisfied body part. They also had noticed that their body from had changed over the years in abdomen, waist, weight, hip, and thigh. The result shows that weight increase and the distribution of body fat changes especially abdomen, waist, hip and thigh as women get older. Moreover, there is a correlation between body satisfaction and body changes: the respondents unsatisfied their body part which had been changed. Therefore, new technologies would be accepted with consumers" body awareness and a positive attitude toward 3D scan process.

The purpose of this research was to develop a smart wear equipped with wearable technologies for women in the age of 50`s and 60`s and confirm its acceptability. For this, we constructed a casual jacket that has the integration of heating and lighting function, and evaluated the user`s satisfaction. The size of the heating device attached at the back of the jacket was 300mm in width and 120mm in length and the size of the one attached at the front abdomen was 180mm in width and 120mm in length. The power supplier was the unification of the battery and controller which have been waterproofed. The lighting device connected with LED was 26mm in width, 20mm in length and 1.5 mm in thickness. It has been designed in a waterproofed rectangular shape and was attachable to the jacket. The satisfaction survey of a smart jacket has been conducted with three standards, which were convenience, appearance and practicality Free physical movement among the standard of convenience had very high scores with the average of 4.7 on a five point-scale. The acceptability of the jacket was 4.6, which proved that it didn`t have unique feelings compared to ordinary ones. The evaluation scare of the appearance of the jacket was 4.5. Especially inside finishing of the jacket received the highest scores from all ages. According to the evaluation of practicality, there has been no change in the appearance of the jacket and the function of heating device after laundry.
