1978년 1월부터 1984년 12월까지 만 7년간 부산 메리놀병원 산부인과에 입원한 산모 10,809례중 쌍태아 임신 40례를 포함한 제절환자 1,743례에 대한 임상적 통계적 관찰을 하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 제절의 빈도는 16.1%이었고, 1차제절이 11.4%, 반복제절이 4.6%이었다. 2. 연령분포는 26~30세군이 전체의 52.6%로 가장 높은 빈도를 보였다. 3. 임신 39주에서 40주사이에 시행한 경우가 56.7%로 반 이상을 차지하였다. 4. 신생아 체중분포는 3,000~3,499gm군이 전체의 40.1%로 가장 많았다. 5. 일차제절의 적응증은 초산부에서는 아두골반불균형(34.9%), 골반위(12.7%), 태아절박증(12.1%)의 순서이었고, 경산부에서는 선택적제절(73.0%)이 가장 많았고, 다음이 아두골반불균형(11.5%), 골반위(2.8%), 자궁기능부전(2.8%)의 순서이었다. 7. 제절과 병행한 수술은 총 제절의 36.47%이었으며, 충수절제술(18.36%), 난관결찰술(14.5%)이 대부분이었다. 8. 난관결찰술은 1차제절에서 11.3% 시행한데 반하여 반복제절에서는 41.3% 시행하였다. 9. 제절술식은 자궁협부횡절개술이 98.4%로서 대부분을 차지하였다. 10. 모성이환율은 백분율로 총 제절의 13.7%이었으며, 산욕열이 8.15%로서 가장 많았다. 11. 주산기 사망율은 총 36례로 2.02%이었다. 12. 모성사망은 1례이었다. 1. Cesarean section rate was 16.1% for the period. 2. The primary cesarean section rate was 11.4%, and that of repeat cesarean section was 4.6%. 3. The indications for the primary cesarean section were that C.P.D. was 34.9%, breech presentation 12.7%, fetal distress 12.1% in order. 4. In the type of operation, low cervical section was 98.4%, classic 1.1%, and cesarean hysterectomy was 0.5%. 5. In the type of anesthesia, general anesthesia was 96.9%, and spinal anesthesia was 3.1%. 6. Perinatal mortality rate was 2.02%. 7. Maternal morbidity was 13.7%. 8. In the combined operation with cesarean section, appendectomy was 18.3%, tubal ligation was 14.5%.
