The clinical experience with the use of cryocauterization for the primary treatment of chronic cervicitis in 34 patients at Seoul National University Hospital from Sep. 1972 through Jan. 1973 is reported. The patients have been observed over 12 weeks of period. Cryosurgery was performed by the use of carbon dioxide gas as the refrigerant which was delivered through a special cervical probe. The procedure was carried out in the out patient dapartment without analgesia or anesthesia. Cervical lesion has been treated at -50 C for 3 minutes. Healing was documented to be complete in 91% of all patients within 12 weeks after treatment. Healing process has been complete through a similar fashion in majority of cases. Significantly, the majority of patients experienced only mild discomfort during the freezing process. No serious complications have occurred and no patients have complained of systemic symptomatology. Cryocautery seems to be a rapid, safe, to-date and effective measures for the treatment of chronic cervicitis.

Premature rupture of the membrances (PROM) is one of the most complicatons of pregnancy and a cause of perinatal mortality and morbidity as well as a cauese of maternal morbidity A total of 339 deliceries at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Kang Nam General Hosptial from Aug 1983 to Jan 1984 were studied They wee deviede into two groups; One was a group 1 who received pelvic examination weekly from 37 weeks` gestation to delivery the other was a group 2 who didn`t receive pelvic examination The result of clinical analysis of two group are as follows: 1) The incidence of PROM in total dilivery was 15% 2) The highest incidence of PROM was in the nulliparous women and the age group of third decade 3) The incidence of PROM in Group 1 who were examined weekly was 19.6% which was asignificant increase compared to the incidence of Group 2, 7.7% 4) The Primary Cesarean section rate of Group 1 was 17.1% and that of Group 2 was 10.0% 5) The overall cesarean section rate of the PROM group(15.6%) was found to be more than twice that of remaining intact membrane group(6.9%) 6) This study suggests that pelvic examinations before term may be a significant contributing factor to the occerrence of PROM Therefore it would seem prudent to recommend that no pelvic examinations be done routinely in the in the third trimester unless a vaild medical indication exists to examine the cervix,

(21.4%) and breech presentation (9.4%) 5) The most frequent indication of primary section in multipara was malpresentation (33.3%) The others were antepartum hemorrhage such as placenta previa and placenta abruptio (28.4%) and C.P.D. (16.04%) 6) In the distriution of body weight of infants the group of 3,000-3,499gm was the most common(40.6%) 7) In performing the cesarean section lower segmental transverse incision was most commen (96.9%) classical section was only 8 cases (0.8%) and casarean hysterectomy was perfomed in 4 cases 8) Incidental operation: Tubal ligation for sterilization was most common(95.95%) The others were appendectomy (34.9%) and adnexal operation(3.4%) 9)Of the postoperative complication the wound infection was the most common (31.5%) The others were urinary tract infection (26.7%) endometritis(17.1%) ect 10) The perinatal mortality was 2.4%
