This study is to review and analyze the guidelines of "District Unit Plan" through the planning procedure of the cultural district in Insa-dong. In order to preserve traditional and cultural attributes in the Insa-dong district from imprudent commercial development, the cultural district was declared and the guidelines were set in 2000. The study explores how pertinent the guidelines are related to development goals of the district, and how the guidelines provide the directions and possibly become a part of actual design and planning practice in the step of implementation. Based on the analysis of existing conditions in the cultural district, conceivable discrepancies between some of aspects that may be brought on by the guidelines and maintaining characteristics of the cultural district are subsequently addressed.

노인 복합주거 단지의 외부공간에 관한 연구

As the proportion of older persons in the Korean population begins to increase, new kinds housing designed specifically for those are becoming familiar and common (generally being called 'silver towns'). One of the reasons explaining this event is that more older persons than in previous years are now living, and also planning, independently, away from and not counting supports from their children. Unlike nursing homes, congregate housing and/or assisted living facilities offer independent living for the elderly. In order to live on their own, opportunities for meeting others and socializing become increasingly important aspects for the elderly, and pleasant outdoor spaces take a major role in supporting active activities such as exercising, gardening, and walking, as well as sitting and viewing. This study examines the necessities that should be considered early in the planning (i,e, programing) and design process of outdoor spaces for the elderly, so as to provide comfort, safety and security, and ease of access to the outdoors. Further, the case study is utilized to compare the guidelines from the literatures with the actual instances in an assisted living facility.

기숙사에서의 만족도와 행태에 관한 연구

The main purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of satisfaction and behavior in a residence hall. Furthermore, the study examines how consistent or different results of the present study are, compared to the previous one, done with another residence hall, in the same campus. The analysis was carried out by means of observation and questionnaire research designed for a residence hall at Hongik University, Chochiwon. A 5-story residence hall, recently constructed with the modified layout based on the result of the previous study, was chosen for the study. Among others, the results of the both studies consistently showed that lack of space in the residence unit was the most dissatisfied factor, in spite of the fact that a great majority of the students studied and spent leisure time in the unit. In addition, the present study indicated that the overall unit dimension must be increased due to the extended size of the table to carry personal computers that most students have in their residence units.

建築프로그래밍 過程에 對한 事例硏究

The primary objective of this study is to illustrate the procedure of architectural programming through a case study of the main library at the University of Memphis. The study reviews the evolution of necessity for the new library facility ad the detailed description of a set of procedures, including the development, the organization, and the methodology utilized. In addition, to gain perspective and reveal the effectiveness of procedures, the study also includes the distinctive results of the program and subsequent design in the new library facility.

身體不自由者와 老弱者를 위한 建築設計 : 미국, 일본의 法規와 設計指針 比較硏究 A Comparative Study on Codes and Design Guidelines between the U. S. and Japan

As the number of the aged persons is increasing rapidly throughout the world various concerns of the aged are growing more serious including achieving barrier-free environments. Those environmental concerns have been primarily for the handicapped; however, the paradigm has changed recently with the number of the aged, and so should building codes and design guidelines. The purpose of this study is to overview and compare the codes and design guidelines for the barrier-free environment in the United States and Japan, where the regulations are being considered as more advanced than other countries. The study mainly consists of the role of the government in the both countries, expenses of retrofitting existing facilities as well as new construction, the concept of adaptable environments, and the specific example of the design guidelines that will make environments more responsive to aged and handicapped persons.

멀티플렉스 영화관의 대기공간과 동선체계에 관한 연구

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the role of spatial configuration of the multiplex cinema on users' behavior in the waiting hall and cognitions of the circulation system. Two multiplex cinemas, Artreon representing a vertical configuration and CGV representing a horizontal one, were investigated in detail by methods of observation, interview, and questionnaire survey. Results showed that there must be separate route of entrance to and exit from the cinema hall at the vertical type. At the horizontal type there should be clear distinction among the entrance area to the auditorium, the waiting hall, and the auxiliary area such as concession stand. Furthermore, it is imperative for the horizontal type to have exit route not to be confused with the waiting hall at all, particularly in case of emergency, to prevent congested situation.

建築 프로그래밍 過程에 關한 硏究

The main objective of this study is to review the leading contemporary methodology related to the procedure of facility programming. The study is intended as an illustration of each step of the process for organizing analytic infomation to create a program, prior to the schematic design phase. In addition, to gain perspective and reveal what is the factual role of the programming the study also reviews the evolution, the development, as well as what has been misunderstood.

노년층을 위한 건축계획의 조명 및 색채에 관한 연구

Lifht is an important consideration in environmental design. It constantly changes, and changes in light indicate, among others, the presence or absence of shadow, changes in depth, and a number of cues that subconsciously affect how built-environment user moves through and uses space. Color is another vital factor. The interaction of light and color can provide information on depth, distance, emotional tone of the space, practical use of the space, and even the appropriate rate of movement. Simply put, these two elements provide an abundance of information, including the critical, to the environment user. This study examines these elements in planning mainly the interior space for the elderly whose problems include a reduction in the ability to differentiate color, as well as a diminished ability to perceive contrast and to interpret depth cues.

유료양로시설 주거단위공간의 다양화에 관한 연구

This study is to analyze the problem of dwelling unit in the operation facilities and define the typology of dwelling unit type for the purpose of providing a variety in the dwelling unit, it is classified the internal and the extenal facts as following: Internal facts : 1) Space division type; 2) Space extension type; 3) Space separation type; 4) Space changeable type External facts : 1) Unit combination type; 2) Unit utilization type; 3) Structure system As a result of this study, the ways to provide choice in the dwelling unit are suggested as the below : 1) Concentration of wet zone; 2) Stepped unit choosing system by barrier free plan; 3) Exact division unit space into the wet and the dry zone; 4) Flexible nit composing method.
