<P>In this study, Ce0.65Zr0.25RE0.1O2−δ (RE = Tb, Gd, Eu, Sm, Nd, Pr,and La)solid solutions were successfully prepared by the glycine-nitrateprocess and tested for CO oxidation activity. The X-ray diffractionresults confirmed the formation of complete Ce0.65Zr0.25RE0.1O2−δ solid solutions. The Raman spectroscopy measurements suggested the presence of oxygenvacancies due to defective structure formation and further evidencedthe formation of solid solution. The high-resolution transmissionelectron microscopy observations showed the nanocrystalline natureof the solid solutions. From X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysisit was revealed that the cerium, terbium, and praseodymium are presentin +3 and +4 oxidation states. The UV–vis diffuse reflectancespectroscopy indicated that the Pr3+ ions in the Ce0.65Zr0.25Pr0.1O2−δ system provoked a significant increase in the Ce3+ fractionon the surface. H2 temperature-programmed reduction measurementsshowed an enhanced surface reduction at much lower temperatures forCe0.65Zr0.25Pr0.1O2−δ sample compared to others, indicating increased oxygen mobilityin these samples, which enable the enhanced oxygen diffusion at lowertemperatures. Significantly high CO oxidation activity is exhibitedby Ce0.65Zr0.25Pr0.1O2 solid solution.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jpccck/2012/jpccck.2012.116.issue-5/jp207107j/production/images/medium/jp-2011-07107j_0007.gif'></P>
ON AUTOMORPHISM GROUPS OF AN є-FRAMED MANIFOLD
Kim, J.S.,Cho, J.H.,Tripathi, M.M.,Prasad, R. Korean Mathematical Society 2002 대한수학회논문집 Vol.17 No.4
Two examples of $\varepsilon$-famed manifolds are constructed. It is proved that an $\varepsilon$-framed structure on a manifold is not unique. Automorphism groups of r-framed manifolds are studied. Lastly we prove that a connected Lie group G admits a left invariant normal $\varepsilon$-framed structure if and only if the Lie algebra of all left invariant vector fields on G is an $\varepsilon$-framed Lie algebra.

The breakthrough behaviour of activated charcoal cloth samples against an oxygen analogue (OA) of sulphur mustard has been studied using the modified Wheeler equation. Activated charcoal cloth samples having different surface area values in the range of 481 to 1290 m2/g were used for this purpose. Breakthrough behaviour was found to depend on the properties of the activated charcoal cloth, properties of the OA and the adsorption conditions. Activated charcoal cloth with a high surface area of 1290 m2/g, relatively large surface density of 160 g/m2 and coarser fiber structure exhibited better kinetic saturation capacity value, 0.19 g/g, against OA vapours when compared to others, thus confirming its potential use in foldable masks for protection against chemical warfare agents.

Cymbidium aloifolium (L). Sw. is an exquisite epiphytic orchid of the Kolli Hills (Eastern Ghats) of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. It is fast disappearing from its natural habitats due to deforestation and low germination rate in natural habitat. In the present study, an attempt was made to germinate the seeds from un-dehisced capsule of Cymbidium aloifolium (L). Sw under in vitro condition. The seed germination and protocorm development were recorded in three different well known media namely Knudson C (KC), Half strength Murashige & Skoog (1/2 MS) and Vacin & Went (VW) media. The highest seed germination of 90% was observed KC basal media after $30^{th}$ days whereas germination percentages were 40% and 30% on 1/2 MS and VW media respectively. The well-developed protocorm were transferred to KC media supplemented with 6-Benzyl Amino Purine (BAP) and Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) where BAP (1.0 mg/l) and NAA (1.0 mg/l) together were found to be optimum for the highest shoot formation. About 90% of the shoots found to be well rooted after transfer to the KC medium differently supplemented with 1.5 mg/l Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and 1.0 mg/l Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). Though rooting also took place in the two basic media but the duration was longer when compared with the hormone-supplemented media. The rooted plantlets were hardened and kept under greenhouse conditions which can be relocated in natural habitats.

Phase dependent magnetic properties of Ni-Au alloy nanowires
Prasad, R.V.S.,Hyun An, B.,Shin, Y.,Tak Jeon, I.,Suh, J.Y.,Keun Kim, Y.,Choi, I.S. North-Holland 2014 Materials Letters Vol.116 No.-
Binary alloy nanowires of mutually immiscible Ni-Au system are synthesized by electrodeposition method. Here, we incorporate the concept of alloy design into nanowires to effectively engineer and control the magnetic properties of nanowires. Saturation magnetization and coercivity values of as-deposited Ni-Au alloy nanowires strongly correlate with either the phases present or to the dissolution of gold to nickel. The magnetic properties, however, were significantly affected upon annealing, which is correlated with the structural evolution of a weakly magnetic metastable hcp-Ni phase. We report here the detailed investigation on phase transformations in Ni-Au alloy nanowires and their effect on magnetic properties.
