우리는 타인의 현존이 필연적임을 밝혀내기 위해 "소통적 영역으로의 환원"(Reduktion zur kommunikative Sphare)을 수행함으로써 우리 삶의 실천적인 진실을 구해내야 한다. 소통 영역으로의 환원을 위한 네 단계의 과정을 찾을 수 있다. 첫째로, 내가 하나의 사물임을 정확하게 인정해서 받아들이는 과정이다. 둘째로, 나를 그러한 사물로 구축해 내는 이른바 타인의 시선을 나의 존재 조건으로 정확하게 인정해서 받아들이는 과정이다. 셋째로, 타인의 시선이 발휘되는 곳이 사물로 주어진다는 바로 그 사태를 바탕으로 해서 이윽고 나의 시선이 성립한다는 것을 정확하게 인정해서 받아들이는 것이다. 마지막 넷째로, 나와 타인 간에 시선 교환이 이루어지면서 서로에게서 사물성을 발견하는 바 사물성의 교환이 이루어진다는 것을 정확하게 인정해서 받아들이는 것이다. 소통은 결국 행동을 주고받는 것, 즉 행동의 교환이다. 행동은 항상 상황 속에서 이루어지며 그 바탕은 몸 전반의 감각과 운동이다. 그래서 행동의 교환은 곧 감각의 교환이자 운동의 교환이다. 거기에 시선의 교환과 더불어 몸들 간의 사물성의 교환이 매설되어 있음은 말할 것도 없다. 여기에서 우리는 소통 자체가 또 하나의 행동임을 염두에 두고 있다. 행동을 통한 행동의 교환이 곧 소통인 것이다. 인간과 로봇 사이에 소통이 가능한가 하는 문제는 인간과 로봇의 관계가 소통 상황에 의한 것으로 간주될 수 있는가, 말하자면 인간과 로봇 사이에 행동의 교환이 성립하는가, 즉 인간과 로봇 사이에 시선과 사물성의 동시적인 교환이 성립하는가 하는 문제로 연결된다. 또 이는 로봇의 동작에서 상황인 행동이 발휘되는가 하는 문제로 압축된다. 로봇에게 나를 바라보면서 나를 사물로서 느낄 수 있는 시선의 힘을 최대한 강화하고 보장해 줄 때, 나는 로봇과의 소통을 통해 새로운 방식으로 나를 사물로 느낄 수 있을 것이고, 그에 따라 새로운 방식으로 뭇 사물들과 공명할 수 있을 것이다. 중요한 것은 서로 간에 행동을 통해 시선과 사물을 상호 동시적이고 등가적으로 교환을 할 수 있도록 해야 한다는 점이다. 그럴 때 소통의 윤리적인 가치가 제대로 발생하고 작동할 것이기 때문이다. We ought to perform "reduction to communicative sphere" in order to discover the necessity of existence of others. This reduction can be performed through four processes. 1) to recognize and receive my own thingness. 2) to recognize and receive the fact that gaze of other man establish my own thingness and it is condition my own being. 3) to recognize and receive the fact that at first the place of gaze of other man is given as a sort of thing and then upon this my own gaze is emerged. 4) finally, to recognize and receive the fact that between me and other man exchange of thingness emerges in exchanging of gazes. Communication is finally an exchange of behaviors. It is impossible to deny that in such a communication, exchange of gazes and thingness is composed. We ought to consider communication itself is a behavior. Exchange behaviors through behavior, it is communication. The question that it is possible for human being and robot to communcate can be expressed as follows: can the relation of human being and robot be considered as one by communication-situation; can exchange of behaviors be consisted between two; can exchange of thingness and gazes be consisted between two; in a word, can robot perform the behavior as situation. As much as we establish and strengthen power of gaze in robot which makes me a thing, we could experience us things newly through communication with robot, and we resonate to all things. We must have a capacity to exchange gazes and thingness synchronously and equivalently through behaviors each other. As much as we success to achieve such a capacity, we can generate a true ethical value of communication.
