유아의 기질과 실행기능이 외현화 및 내재화 문제에 미치는 영향: Latzman의 문제행동 이론 검증을 중심으로 = The Effects of Temperament and Executive Function on Preschooler's Externalizing and Internalizing Problems: Focusing on Testing Latzman's Problem Behavior Theory

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of temperament, and cool and hot executive function on preschooler's externalizing and internalizing problems focusing on testing Latzman's problem behavior theory. The subjects of this study were 207 preschoolers, 3 to 5 years of age, 207 their mothers and 16 their teachers in D City. Data were analyzed by correlation analysis and hierarchical linear regression analysis using SPSS 19.0 program. The major results were as follows: First, preschooler's mood temperamental trait, cool and hot executive function had significant effects on preschooler's externalizing problems. Second, preschooler's adaptability and approach/withdrawal temperamental traits, cool and hot executive function had significant effects on preschooler's internalizing problems.
These findings will help efforts to identify children at risk for developing behavior problems and design empirically interventions to prevent further increasing the problems.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아의 기질, 실행기능이 외현화 및 내재화 문제에 미치는 영향을 Latzman의 문제행동 이론에 입각하여 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 만3-5세 유아 207명과 그들의 어머니, 그리고 유아의 담임교사 16명이었으며, 유아를 대상으로 한 검사와 어머니와 교사가 평가한 질문지 자료를 통합하는 방식으로 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 19.0 프로그램을 사용하여 상관분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다: 첫째, 유아의 기질 하위요인 중에서는 기분상태 그리고 실행기능의 하위 요인 모두 외현화 문제에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아의 기질 하위 요인 중에서는 적응성과 접근회피 그리고 실행기능의 하위 요인 모두 유아의 내재화 문제에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 실행기능이 미치는 영향에 있어서는 유아의 외현화 문제에는 인지적 실행기능이, 유아의 내재화 문제에는 정의적 실행기능이 가장 큰 설명력을 지니는 변수로 나타났다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서는 Latzman의 문제행동 이론이 한국 유아들에서도 적용됨을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 문제행동에 취약한 유아들을 확인하고 유아들의 외현화 및 내재화 문제의 예방과 중재를 위한 프로그램 개발의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
